Also, this goes beyond games. Maybe Sony Pictures will use Unreal Engine for their VFX-heavy movies and to debut movie trailers on Fortnite...

Surely there must be some incentives, because it's only a stake of 1.4%. It's like Sony only joined Epic's group chat.

well, that explains a lot of recent things and comments from Epic.

There's necessarily not a direct correlation between this investment and Tim Sweeney's ass-kissing during the UE5 demo, but it was quite awkward seeing him and the other Epic guys not wanting to say "Xbox" during Geoff Keighley's post-demo interview.
