I agree. 2D seems to be making a comeback. Instead of trying to force the game into a format in which it does not really fit, play to its strengths. The notion of a proper Street Fighter IV-esque 2D Castlevania on Wii, using the Wiimote as the whip, is absolutely awesome. At any rate, Konami needs to get their heads out of their asses. Stop trying to be "dark," for the sake of being "dark," with **** like 3D uber-gothic Castlevanias, Saw games, and Silent Hills that are focused on over the top violence as opposed to being focused on geniune scares and tense atmospheres. They need to realize they are not above making niche games like Suikoden and Vandal Hearts. Konami needs to start playing to their strengths again because right now, the only thing that they have right is MGS, and that's not even their doing. Its Kojima's doing.
Huh? Even the later and weaker games in the SH series haven't been about over the top violence. They've tried to stick to exactly what you said (though the success has obviously wavered). Unless you're just referring to the latest one that just got announced, but I didn't know there was enough footage out there to judge it's direction as of yet.
