Is ANYone else tired of hearing about all this stupid crap of: Oh South Park is so much better than Family Guy yada, yada, yada! Ok, maybe so, maybe South Park is better than Family Guy. But you know what else: Trey Parker and Matt Stone are being childish little b****es about this.

Pot calling the kettle black?

South Park is full of s***.
Trey and Matt are almost 40 years old and they have the maturity of little kids. They think its funny to make fun of serious issues like terrorists and religions.

I think its pretty damn stupid.

South Park being cancelled tomorrow would make my day.

it was sweet. I would have been pissed though if they did that terrance and phillip bit the whole time.

Pretty good conclusion, liked that South Park took shots at themselves as well as Family Guy and Simpsons. Funny explanation of Family Guy's jokes, yeah Mannatees!

That opening was priceless.:D

"You think thats bad"...

Priceless

And I like Family Guy.

I wonder how many poor souls changed the channel, pissed because they "did it again!" :D
And missing the rest of the episode. :(

Still, the skewering of the Family Guy writers, while funny, was still tame IMO. They never singled out McFarlane like I thought they would. Maybe they felt that would be giving him too much credit. Oh well, there's always the DVD commentaries.

That last bit had me in absolute hysterics.

LOL You sound like Cartman in tonight's episode!

I missed the first showing, and I'm watching the replay. It's at a break right now.

So South Park's complaint is that the jokes in Family Guy have nothing to do with the plot?

Back in the 60's, there was little show that the BBC aired called "Monty Python's Flying Circus". While each show had a "theme", the sketches occasionally referenced the theme. Sketches would suddenly stop and go off on another tangent. Cartoons and/or a linkguy would be the only thing connecting the sketches.

The biggest problem most of these animators have w/ FG is that in their opinions, FG disguises poor writing and stories with numerous pop culture references irrelevant to the plot of the episode...

Cartman: "When I make jokes they are inherant (sp?) to a story...deep and situational...not just some random interchangable joke after another!"

I saw pt 2 tonight...I loved Cartman vs. Kyle, couldn't stop from laughing.

I liked that while they were taking shots at Family Guy it was fair and balanced, you had support for the show and hate for it. I kinda wonder what Seth has to say about all this.

There's no rule that states "When you tell a joke, it must be relevant to the plot"

'Tis true.

I really think it just goes back to McFarlane's attitude. If he was a guy who they all respected, then they'd likely be amused by the show too.

Over on their website, they give a synopsis of how Kyle loves Family Guy but Cartman hates it, and the two travel across the country with the show's fate in their hands.

This should be pretty vicious. Trey and Matt have made it no secret that they despise the show and Seth McFarlane himself. I'm a fan of both shows, but I have to appreciate any satire Parker and Stone want to dish out. Guess we'll see tomorrow night.

Any other thoughts?

That is a sign that South Park is dying!!! Even the simpsons have made a stab at Family Guy!

Except, this was funny. And they even made fun of themselves.

I don't think they're dying. I think currently, the shows are no better or worse than they've been the last few seasons. Now, I will say that I have sensed maybe a little bit of "autopilot" from Trey and Matt for a little while, but all they need is a good creative reawakening, and the show will be back to its former, week-in week-out brilliance.

I snapped in my earlier post. I just hate it when other shows rip on other shows from the same genre...I find it petty. I love all the shows.
