Space Exploration. Where did it go?

You know...I really miss sci-fi shows that deal with space exploration. Star Trek...heck, even Stargate had some great exploration episodes. It seems like most sci-fi now is becoming more "sci-fi inspired" rather than pure sci-fi.

I believe Stargate Universe is the last show of this style and it's canceled. Is this really the end of space exploration sci-fi? Will we never see another series of brave explorers traveling through the universe learning about themselves, discovering ways to better humanity and understand other alien cultures?

I hope not...and it's likely we won't see anything like that for 5 to 10 years. I'd like to be wrong and think the general audience is ready for it. But our current TV landscape seems to be aimed at a fast paced, ADD society that wants to keep things as down to earth as possible..

Its cyclical normally. Its kind of hard to tell how it will play out.

Hollywood an television absolutely run things into the ground worse than ever now.

I pray that Serenity makes a come back personally.
