SPARTACUS: Gods of The Arena

Is this the series where the lead actor had to quit because of cancer?

The prequel to that, yes.

I can't wait for this. The first series was awesome.

I hope they will make it as awesome as it could be, but tone down on some of the excessive CGI blood they used in Spatacus: B&S.

They toned down on the Cg blood after the first few eps.

Cant wait for Crixus to become the champion he is in this since it is just weird seeing him with long hair and looking like shhhht.

Man, that trailer had my blood pumping.

Can't wait for the new series to start.

They've been showing alot of the season 1 eps, leading up to this series; man, i'm really going to miss Whitfield as Spartacus. :csad:

I kind of wish they didn't put the name Spartacus in the title. I know it is for franchise identity but having the name of a character that isn't even in the show doesn't make sense.

The actor that plays Batiatus, can't seem to remember his name, is really amazing. I've only seen him elsewhere in the Mummy movie and he is so different from that character. It really shows his range of acting.

I second your sentiment Golgo-13, Whitfield will be greatly missed as Spartacus.

I thought I read somewhere that Spartacus would bookend the new series. He would be in the first and last episodes. Maybe it was just a rumor...

His name is John Hannah, Siby - i can't get the fact that he was in the The Mummy, out of my head!

I wonder if the cameo that Spartacius/Whitfield was said to have had, still be in the prequel..?

I look forward most to seeing Ashur as a Gladiator; and as much as i hated the *****, i'm sure gonna miss Lucretia.

I just started seeing the previews for this season on HBO.

so spartacus isn't going to be in this? i haven't really been following this shows development...how can they call it spartacus if it isn't about spartacus anymore?

This is a prequel to season one. It was created when they found out that Andy had to go back into treatment.

I hope they make this prequel series available on netflix like they did with season 1 when it aired.

Believe it or not, this show is the reason I got netflix. After watching the first two episodes on showtime.com I had to watch to see the rest.

So is Blood and Sand that good? I recently got netflix and have been burning through Eureka, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Farscape but I need something new and different to get into and Ive heard this show is fn brutal

Blood and Sand is awesome. As long as you can get passed all the 300 editing style you will love it.

So does anyone know much about Jaime Murray who plays Gaia in Gods of the Arena?

I know people compare the slow-mo scenes to 300 but I think the show does a good job of making its own mark on the look and feel of the show. The show is brutal violence, and the sex scenes are graphic but it all illustrates the depravity of the Roman culture.

Golgo-13, did you mean Illythia? She was an uber (female dog) but the actress was very good.

I too hated Ashur in the beginning but he is an awesomely loathsome character. I am also looking forward to seeing him as a gladiator.

I've only seen Jaime Murray in Dexter and Warehouse 13. She was annoying in both but at least she was naked in Dexter. I hope she is good as the rest of the old cast.

The show is fan-f***in-tastic. Give it til episode 3 or 4, you'll fall in love with it.

I hated her, but for some reason i found her ssssooooo hot. It's funny, but now i understand why women like the 'bad boys'. The actress that played Crixus's love interest, Naevia, is a very attractive women but i don't find her hot, due to her wholesome-ness/goodness, qualities...sounds strange, i know.

I just started seeing the previews for this season on HBO.

HBO?
