I'm praying that they do a Caesar in Gaul series. But there's lots of things they could do. They could do Hannibal.

loved the finale. Though the last 3 episodes have felt slightly rushed. There is only one thing I would cut from the episode, and that was the giant german dude with the hammer dying and cursing. Now don't get me wrong, it was a cool death scene, but they overstretched the effects team with that one, and it just seemed out of place, especially with the subtitle.

otherwise, the finale was mint, though there are parts here and there that could have used an extra few seconds just to get the mood a little closer to the right tone (ie. when Gannicus lets out his battle cry in the midst of the battle and then the cut to Spartacus). A second or two more of his roar before fading to spartacus would have made the cut a little more natural.

sad to see this show go. My TV menu just seems to be getting smaller and smaller. And there seems to be less and less fare that falls into my appetite range.

I thought the way Spartacus died on the hilltop while his people cross the mountain into the promise land so to speak was very Moses. In a loose sense anyways.

This was such a great show. I wasn't a big fan of the battle scenes in Vengeance and War of the Damned (I did like the final battle tho) due to all the green screen but I always kept coming back for the characters. I love what Agron said "One day Rome shall fade and crumble, but you shall always be remembered in the hearts of those who love freedom." It is an amazing thing that his name lived on. I'm not sure if Rome tried to erase his name or if they allowed his name to serve as a warning, but either way we still talk about him. A slave who said enough and rose up against one of the greatest empires that ever existed. Amazing stuff.

That was one of the greatest series finales ever! Epic and emotional from start to finish, I cried indeed. And what a beautiful hommage to Andy: I AM SPARTACUS!

Andy will always be top in my book, but Liam, there at the end when he was fighting Crassus bloodied, beaten, and bruised, and the whole episode really, he was Spartacus. More than ever he looked powerful, determined, and ready to face his enemies. The way he commanded his troops and acted in the battle was aces. The whole damn things was just aces.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamazing.
There was so much great pay off in this single episode.
Unlike say, Spartacus vs Glabber, the staging in this confrontation didn't just come off more consistent with "power levels" if you will, but also with heroism and respecting the characters. I loved it.
Especially that one shot where Liam just tosses that guy by the back of his head whilst marching over the dead bodies.

The Gannicus work was pretty good too, though I probably would have just given it to Caesar for the sake greater things to come. I mean would it be such a shame to go down to the most famous roman..etc.

The loved the work with Crassus' slave. So well played in what they ended up doing.

I would have stripped the armor off of Liam in the end there. Not only has he been wearing it forever, but he would seem more human in just red bandages.
I'd also have filled the final shot in the colosseum with all the fallen gladiators.
That's really the only complaints, the ep and this whole series have been soo good to us.
OMG that bit with his wife's ribbon was genius.

I loved that they made it clear that Spartacus wasn't actively trying to win this final battle. He just wanted to save "the innocent". The entire time, that's all he's wanted to do.
Sad to see it go.
The Andy send off was pretty great.

RIP Andy and Kevin Smith(ares). I loved these two guys.

I almost screamed with Crassus pulled his bait maneuver on Spartacus. Great stuff.

Agron is the gladiator from the house of Batiatus.

I also thought when Spartacus brought the clouds for that final time.

When Crassus looked at Kore and said, "After the rebellion, all your suffering will over," I knew he was going to execute her. Jerkface.

Yeah, but that kid raped her. Or is that okay now?

It's not ok, but there isn't anything that can be done since she killed him and was part of the rebellion.

If no one knew she was briefly part of the rebellion he would've kept her alive but examples had to be made and he couldn't have his own people questioning him.

Exactly. Crassus didn't kill Kore because of what happened to Tiberius, he killed her because she defected to the rebellion. In light of the rape, Crassus forgave Kore for killing his son, but he couldn't be seen to show any kind of weakness when it came to defeating his enemies.

Great finale. Loved the switch on the multiple '"I am Spartacus" claims from how Kubrick used it, and saving the last version of that for Andy at the end of the credits was a great touch.

Liam was great himself throughout the finale though, and loved how he was wise to Crassus's sword grab trick and turned it back on him. Glad Crassus didn't deliver the fatal blow, and it was a good touch to have Spartacus live long enough to know at least half of those who took the mountains made it. Also loved how he reminded us Spartacus was not his real name (that was never revealed) and how he anticipated hearing it again soon from his one true love.

Sad the show is done now, but it was great ride and a great retelling of a true legend.

And The name Spartacus does indeed live on today. Numerous European football teams are named Spartak after him.

I loved the finale. It has to go down as one of the greatest ever for a drama on cable. I'm going to miss listening that theme music at the beginning and end of every episode. Speaking of which, I loved how they threw up that montage of every character from the show, including Andy at the end.

Wouldn't it have made sense to kill her right after she came back if he wanted to make an example of her for joining the rebellion? Why kill her after the war was already over if not to avenge his son?

Because he wasn't going back to Rome yet. If he let her live after the battle and word got out that he let his slave live when she was part of the rebellion it would not have looked good for him. If he wanted to avenge his sons death I don't think he would have waited so long.

The only major downfall to this season was the lack of strong females, Saxa was the only one I truly enjoyed but she didn't get that much screentime sadly.

Do you mean lack of strong female characters that you liked, or lack of strong female characters in general? Because apart from Saxa I can think of at least two more.

I couldn't have asked for a better ending to this series. Liam owned the role this season. Sad to see this great show end.

What I wouldn't give to be in a parallel universe where Andy lived to see this series through to the end.

Just saw the finale.Awesome. The look on Liams face , his body all beaten as he fought Crassus was beyond epic. It pretty much confirms that Spartacus is the superior fighter, as just like Crixus, Crassus couldn't have beaten him in a fair fight.

I would much rather see a Crassus spin off that a Caesar one. Crassus is just a much more interesting character to me, and the actor that plays him just nails it.

good finale. good ending. i never really accepted the new spartacus, because andy was not replaceable, but liam did a good job in the end.

but still, nothing can beat the first season and the prequel.

Perfect ending. I couldn't imagine a better ending for the series.

My only minor quibbles would be the continued emphasis on Sibyl as being the catalyst for Gannicus' development into a "leader" in the rebellion. I've never understood the appeal of the character of Sibyl who has been nothing but a bunny boiler following around Gannicus like a puppy with no independent motivation, except for some fleeting character development about her religious beliefs. It's not that Gannicus' character development wasn't appreciated, it just didn't seem true to me that Sibyl would inspire it. It would have been far more interesting if BOTH Gannicus and Saxa took a personal interest in Sibyl and if they'd formed a working threesome. Sibyl could have "tamed" Gannicus and Saxa a little and made they realise their true feelings for one another and Gannicus and Saxa could have inspired Sibyl to be a little more forceful and independent now that she had been freed from slavery.

Another minor quibble was how strong Crassus appeared to be after he was kicked to the bottom of the cliff by Agron. Crassus had just gone toe to toe with Spartacus and barely survived, yet when Caesar found him, Crassus was up and running straight away.

Finally, I do wish we'd seen more of a one on one battle between Caesar and Gannicus. It was horrendous seeing Gannicus boxed in by the Roman soldiers and not given a chance to fight to his death fairly. But, the final scenes of Gannicus were moving, so I understand why they let him live.

Minor quibbles aside, it was an amazing end to an amazing series. And my inner fan boy was happy that Agron and Nasir got to walk off into the sunrise together. It's great that some beloved characters managed to survive.
