Have you ever gone to a particularly awesome screening of a movie? Not just necessarilly a midnight show on opening day ( though feel free to share stories of those too) but something that is truly awesome like a premiere or something else.

I bring this up because tomorrow night im seeing Psycho with a live orchestra at Powell Symphony Hall in St. Louis.

anybody else having anything cool to tell of?

I went to a midnight screening of TDK and the last 30 minutes of the movie were in spanish. the theater gave everybody in that screening a free ticket and I got to see it a couple days later (it was sold out till then), but it kinda turned me off of midnight screenings for good.

Not really on the exact topic of the thread, but I did have a memorable experience once:

I saw Revenge of the Sith at midnight and waited in line about 6 hours with my brother and some friends. We got in and the enviornment was crazy! Then the movie started and a guy from one of the last few rows was shining a laser pointer at the screen most of the movie, which was very distracting.

So security guards came and walked around the edges of the theater to try and find him, which was even more distracting. Then, to top it off, right during the climax of the Anakin/Obi-Wan duel Anakin says, "This is the end for you my master" then jumps. But then midway through his jump the film cuts and the screen goes black, no audio or anything. People start going crazy, Star Wars fans that have waited for years to see this duel, then all day in line on top of that are not forgiving or patient. I thought a riot was about to begin.

A poor young girl (theater worker) was sent in to tell us there was a problem and we would get free tickets for the delay. It took 30 minutes for them to get the movie up and running again. Then the guy got his laser pointer going again.

The next day me and my brother went back to the theater at 3 in the afternoon five minutes before the showing started, found perfect seats in the center of the theater and sat and watched the entire movie with no laser pointers, security guards, or cuts in the film. I will never go to a midnight showing again.

...Well, I may brave it again for The Dark Knigh Rises...who knows?

I've gotten to see advanced screenings of

The Other
American Gangster
and one other I can't remember the title of.

I was basically peppered in with a bunch of critics. I got tickets to these at random when leaving a movie

I went to North of England's Premier of Kick Arse for free--won the tickets. It had Mclovin guy and the lead taking questions for about twenty minutes and them talking about the film... quite funny. Free popcorn, free badges (With no power comes no responsibility). Me and the missus. We didn't even know it was the premier until we got there and had to queue on this little red carpet to get in and then Mcloving walked past with security. The tickets were won, but we didn't win them. Some guy at work gave them to us because he had something else on. Poor f***er was maaad when I told him.

Think he would've prefered it to me, honestly. I'm not a very starstruck kinda guy. Plus the missus moaned a lot because we'd just gone dressed casual because we didn't know it was anything special. You can imagine what she'd be like with snappers taking our pictures and sh** and she's just wearing jeans and a T. A real ballache.

My school got an advanced screening of The Road.

And we got Best Worst Movie, and Black Dynamite and the directors for both came to visit.

I saw Attack of the Clones 5 days before it was released. Needless to say when yoda reached for his saber, or rather just kind of motioned towards it and force floated it into his grip people went nuts.
