...is freaking awesome! I just read it again and forgot how much I loved it. Makes me wanna read more good Spidey but I can't think of anything off the top of my head.Any suggestions?

I know I'm not the first one to say it but I would love to see Slott regularly on a Spidey title!

Spider-Girl is about th' only good Spidey to be found in this age of Marvel.

Dan Slott should be the writer on ASM.

Here's an interview with him, by the way:

Here's a clipping about what he had to say about potentially writing Spider-Man:

After doing Spidey-Torch and these fun Spidey cameos in She-Hulk and The Thing, if I ever got my hands on a "Spider" book I think that for the first issue I would eviscerate someone just to show them that they're not going to get some fun, happy, campy retro book. Like, "Yeah, here's Deb Whitman and she's impaled on a pike. Are you happy now?

Also, check out ! (heart) Marvel: Web of Romance. Probably the best Spidey story sine Spidey/Human Torch, IMHO.

Yep...and finally, Marvel is starting to support it! Just a shade under a decade too....all right...morons.

cos i'm actually gonna answer the question:
the civil war tie-ins have been good so far. kravens last hunt, revelations (first one that ended the clone saga, not JMS's one),coming home

yeah i've read all of those so far (mmmmm...revelations, i have the tpb) and they're great but I need something I haven't read yet. I read most of the classic arcs (kid who collected, juggernaut two parter, death of jean dewolffe) but I need a quality Spidey-fix.

I've read almost every issue of Spider-Girl.

But I have yet to read Web of Romance which I have only heard good things about. The Dan Slott interview was pretty neat. Thanks!

um... have you read where spider-man beats firelord?

or amazing fantasy v1 #16-19(i think it was 19) where they show the first fights of spider-man's career. i think it was painted and as a kid i remember thinking it was this amazingly adult take on spidey's early career because of that. i must dig them out sometime and reread, but i think theyre good.(and for those that dont know, no im not going insane -- i know that v1 #15 was the last issue but they printed 16+ years later as a kind of mini-series, i think)

the hobgoblin stuff from the 80s and his return in... 1998? hobgoblin lives (sorry im not great with titles and stuff, i just like trying to pick stories from the top of my head :))

um... the essentials issues should be good for old, cheap stuff. and i liked the Marvel Knights Spider-Man run. People moan about some of it but if you read Wild Blue Yonder (#13-18) spider-man stops a drug baron, uses his brain to beat the absorbing man - a guy that went "toe to toe with thor" and is trusted by SHIELD, taking the forefront in an adventure that includes the Avengers and its all before all that Other stuff. what would people give for that kind of story now??

You mean the same arc where the Absorbing Man turned into cocaine and then the Owl turned on a fan to scatter him so he'd have a lot of cocaine? And then a bunch of junkies started snorting the Absorbing Man? ;)

yes. i dont get the objections - i thought that was brilliant! people like the idea of kraven burying peter for two weeks and him be fine without any fluids and stuff or the green goblin being behind the clone saga or the hobgoblin stuff being visited 10years later but they don't like the idea of superheroes as drugs?? pfffft!itsa good story.

I read him beating Firelord
I read Hobgoblin Lives
I read Blue.
I read Millar's run on MK.
I read all of MK after his run. :down

I haven't read:

Amazing Fantasy 19 or Web of Romance. :(

Any other suggestions? I'm thinking about picking up one of the Essentials.

Slott on Spidey would rock, he would bring the heart, fun side, light hearted side, as well as the more darker, and painful sides to Spidey

Spidey comics weren't always this depressing. Don't get me wrong, IMO, Spidey comics have always been dark, (in his 1st story, Ben bites the dust, heavy stuff!) But we always see the various aspects of his personality. His laughter helps him get through things. Like every normal person, he has fun days, weird days, dark times, and stressful times. That's life

Nowadays, people just want to consatantly pummel Spidey, instead of writing real, relatable stories. Well, as much as we can relate to a guy in tights with super powers! Lol

Yes, i bouth the Torch/Spidey book by Slott and i enjoyed it alot. (Did not mean to make that rhyme. :P
