I don’t think this is or ever was the plan. Sony wants to have Tom Holland appear in stuff like a Venom crossover or possibly that Kraven film. Possibly more also. They were never going to send him off into the sunset with a complete arc. They will exploit and use Holland as long as it brings them that sweet $$$$$$

Sorry... I meant his 'initial arc', before branching out into other ventures with Holland's Spider-Man.

I just think they should do a streamlined 'Spider-Man 3', keeping the focus on Spidey and his supporting cast before muddling the waters with the Spider-Verse concept.

The problem with brining back several of the Raimi villains is that they were killed ,and would have been dead nearly 20 years, by the time a Spider-verse crossover film would occur.

Now, these aren't biopics, and there are ways they could try to bring them back from a storytelling pov, but it would feel forced if The Raimi verse versions of The Osborns, Molina's Ock, etc., returned.

Then again, if the actors playing those versions of the characters did appear in a crossover in some form or fashion, while alot of the fandom would complain, it would help the film more than hurt it with the GA.

As for Holland, yeah, Sony and Marvel aren't gonna let go of him that easily and will probably try to shell out big bucks for him to return at a certain point.

Marvel's goal was to go full Harry Potter and take him through high school and college , so SM3 is clearly not meant to be the end of this version of Spiderman's journey.

Apparently Daniel RPK is saying on his Patreon that Kirsten Dunst, Dane Dehaan, and possibly other old Spider-Man movie actors are being courted to reprise their roles in future MCU projects. I don't know how accurate that is right now but I've seen the Daniel RPK guy around previously with rumors, don't know what his track record is I mean. Maybe somebody else here can fill in the blanks a bit with that.
Im hyped if this is the case, especially when it comes to the Raimi stuff. Seeing tobey again and other supporting cast from that trilogy is gonna end up bringing tears to my eyes. I truly hope this is happening.

There's some things I'd hypothetically be able to appreciate, Emma Stone as Spider-Gwen (or Spider-Gwen in general), Felicity Jones as Black Cat, Garfield's Spider-Man getting a Mary Jane or somehow being with Gwen again a la Days of Future Past (but I wouldn't expect this to be that focused on the previous universes). There's also concerns attached. Steve Rogers seemed different to me in Whedon's Avengers films than in his solo films, possibly to better fit into Whedon's approach, so I could see Garfield turned into a caricature of his former self to better bounce off of the other Spider-Men. Really, I think seeing him in his own world where he's designed to exist is much better than stranding him in a different world with a different tone.

Remember when Spider-verse came out in 2018

Remember when Strange Multiverse was announced long before Augst 2020 and Batman

Remember when Fox had X-Men rights

Remember how your goal is to throw ahade at successful franchise always because you don't like it.

remember remember remember. I remember from the X boards long ago. Still same goals.

I remember alot of that too. apart of the throwing shade thing. whats your point?

If what i said is wrong, tell me why what i said is wrong. and then tell me WHY what i said is wrong?

I'm just excited about the idea of getting closure for Maguire and Garfield's stories.

Didn't Sony and Garfield end on bad terms? I know money talks, but I guess I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't invited back. I'm sure he would be, though.

...I wouldn't be surprised if they ended the movie like this. Can you imagine the theater reactions?

I am hearing a lot of argument's against bringing back dead characters, but, if were talking doppelgangers then anyone is far game, not necessarily returning as the exact version of their character from the previous movies, but some multiverse/ alternate-verse take on the character...

so far we've yet to see any repeat spider villains in the MCU, who's to say some version of Keaton's Toomes didn't exist in the previous movie-verses that we just never met, yet, an vice vərsə

yes, there have been some inconsistency in repeat characters/ supporting cast/ villains between the Tobey-verse an Andrew-verse ... we've gotten the two different sets of Osborn's, couple different Dr Connors (through we never saw Dylan Baker as the actual Lizard) the Gwen's.... then of course May and Ben... Flash... to name a few

but, the doppelganger theory doesn't necessarily mean their are one an only version of each character... if they did eventually do a full on live action spidery-verse their would be 3 different Peter Parker(s), we wouldn't be meant to believe that these are the same person in different stages in his life

I wouldn't expect anyone to be off the table

For me it be seeing Thanos at the end of Avengers level of excitement. Now that the Infinity Saga is over, Marvel needs to find new hooks for both the comic and general audience. Spiderverse was a pretty successful story in the comics and it's actually been incorporated in media even before that including the 90s cartoon and the Shattered Dimensions video game. Plus you can have a lot of fun with it. As mentioned before, Emma Stone as Spider-Gwen is an ace idea and just imagine if they even have cameos for live action versions of Miles from Spiderverse and the PS4 Spider-Man. Stuff like that will make the audience go nuts.

Well Electro could still be alive. His death is easy reversible. DOC Ock could have survived too. The green goblin from Spiderman 1 is totally dead though.

If there is no body found, then they could still be alive. General rule of film.

There’s a rumor on CBM that says Kirsten Dunst and Dane DeHaan are being courted to reprise their MJ and Harry Osborn roles in this film. I’m taking that one with a full can of salt...

I could so see Spider-man 3 being the Spiderverse. i know many would like to see a film especially set up for the core idea rather than Hollands 3rd movie. but look what they did for Captain america 3. it become Civil War. so no i could see this being Spiderverse, even if its more focused on Hollands Spider-man.

When it comes to just how much Andrew and Toby could be used... i dunno. the way films are structured its kinda hard to say.

If this is setting the Sinister Six up, what do you think the lineup could be? We already got Electro, what do you guys think is the likelihood of Vulture and Mysterio coming back? Of Gargan becoming Scorpion? Would you want the other two to be completely new villains or ones from the Raimi and Webb films?

It would be a big miss not to get Keaton and Gyllenhaal back. If it were in any way possible I would also love to get Molina and maybe even Dafoe back.

My best guess is their goal would be Vulture, Mysterio, Green Goblin (Dafoe), Doctor Octopus, Sandman, and Electro, with Lizard as first backup unless they'd use another goblin to replace Dafoe, but it's hard to say who might not agree to return. Wasn't there some doubt as to whether Gyllenhaal would want an ongoing role?

As far I would be happy with Andrew Garfield joins MCU, am I the only one worried about the movie has to much topics to deal with? I thaught the next movie would be very personal, Peter tries to handle with his identity reveal. But it seems like they skip important character stories again to show the big action spectacle.

Yeah I’m already getting tired of the “let’s bring back every version of ever character, ever, because MULTIVERSE” trend that’s starting to develop.

This is assuming that SM3 will indeed be a Spider-Verse movie and not just end as a setup to it.

While you could make up an excuse to say Doc ock survived somehow. i think (Dafoe) Goblin is probably 100% dead. that death is much harder to fake.

I thaught the next movie would be very personal, Peter tries to handle with his identity reveal.

But that's not fun and hilarious.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Peter's identity being revealed is a more pressing plot point to address

Yeah SM3 is more than likely just a set up for the Spider-Verse imo.

If Doctor strange 2 fixes the multiverse then i ain't sure they will want to wait. if Spider-man comes out before Doctor strange then thats when things are probably at their most messed up. which would probably be the best time to do it.

I think you could make it Spider-man 3 purely because they did it with the animated Spiderverse already. they didn't need a setup for that movie. and while it would be nice to have more set up for everyone involved. its not really how films work sadly. sometimes you just jump into the deep end. like they did with Thor ragnarok by mixing it with Planet hulk.

I suppose the question is, what happens to the MCU after Wandavision? what world is spider-man in after Wandavision? and how will everyone knowing his identity be fixed? because it needs to be fixed. you can't carry spider-man into the future with everyone knowing.

This is just so weird. Why do they want to bring back a villain from a movie that no one liked? I'm just scratching my head over this. If they want to have Foxx in the MCU, great. But cast him as something else.

It most likely won't be the same Electro from ASM 2. An alternate version if you will.
