Those are classic Spiderman villains, so there's no way Sony and Feige weren't gonna get to at least some of them eventually.

Thats to assume they are planning the long road here. when so far Aunt may learnt peter was spider-man after 1 movie and everyone learnt after 2 movies.

I don't think Fiege himself is planning on saving time for these characters to appear. he is moving fast ahead. not sparing time so they can have their take on everything thats ever happened in the comics.

Gonna take a stab in the dark and say this is because Sony eventually still wants Sinister Six and Foxx is too a big name to waste.

I really don't think it has anything to do with Foxx being a big name. there are plenty of big names who could play him. but only one actor can play a certain version thats already been played before by that actor.

Seeing a lot of people missing the mark with saying they're going the multi-verse route.

It's a new Electro for the MCU but they're just reusing the same actor. I'm guessing Foxx is too big a name and Sony felt he deserved another shot with a better script.

I see no reason to believe that’s more likely than the multiverse theory.

I'm leaning towards the multiverse theory. If they wanted to just do a new Electro cast a different actor. There has to be a specific reason why they're using the same guy again.

Not everything is going to be multiverse in the MCU moving forward. We already have 1 actor from a prior movie playing a different version of the character. I don’t see why the natural assumption is multiverse here. Max Dillon is not a cosmic character. I doubt it is multiverse shenanigans.

Something maybe of note. The Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon used Electro hooked up to a macguffin basically as a plot device to travel to different dimensions for its Spider-Verse story.

Yeah people keep saying it as if it’s simplest answer and I’m not sure it is. Yes, Simmons played a different version of the same character. But Sony and Marvel are both playing with the multiverse concept already.

This can go either way imo. Multiverse thing is more fun to discuss though.

I'd also like to point out again FFH Mysterio said he was from a different earth, obviously that was a lie but what if this time there's a villain that really is from another earth?

I mean, no matter which way you slice it, the whole thing begs the question “WHY?”

If it’s a multiverse thing, why would you bring in THIS particular character? If it’s a Simmons/JJJ thing, why bring back in an actor/character combo who will only remind the audience of an unpopular portrayal in a very unpopular movie? Why not have Foxx play someone else if you want that star power, or why not get a new actor if they’re so dead set on using Electro?

Just weird all around.

That's what's interesting to me, the whole thing is just so bizarre and out of nowhere seemingly. I'm telling ya though, I didn't care much about this movie before but with Foxx's Electro returning in some form it's shot up and I didn't even like Electro in that movie lol.

While it seems far off cause Spidey has appeared in 5 films since, ASM2 was only six years ago. It’s true maybe we shouldn’t jump the gun on the multiverse theory, any other alternative makes less sense. I was really looking forward to a movie where Holland’s Spider-Man had to grow up even more due to being hunted day and night by villains. I was really looking forward to a Kraven/Scorpion combo, maybe even some spider slayers. This is a complete 360.

Side note: Got to think that Vulture showing up in Morbius has to be connected to this

Why Foxx Electro of all characters? He was the worst cinematic Spider-Man villain to date, where they were basically retreading freaking Schumacher's Riddler.

Also, if you were to introduce multiverse into the story...Foxx's Electro is probably the last villain I would use. Yes, I would get Thomas Haden Church back as Sandman first.

Except with Jameson there was no question of a multiverse thing. We all just accepted it was Simmons reprising the role because he was the best choice for it if you were ever going to introduce Jameson into the MCU. I know multiverse concept has already been introduced into MCU, but this just feels like a step too far. Again...Electro was awful in Amazing Spider-Man, a movie that almost tanked the franchise for being such an awful, bloated mess.

It's too early to say one way or the other IMO. Everyone's assuming Multiverse because of the title of the next Doctor Strange film.

One thing about the MCU I liked, was that it is well organized and not so confusing like comics are because of the Multiverses.
I don‘t like the idea, that Spiderman and X-Men characters could now be switched from film-universes whenever needed.
Characters could die, and be brought back from other universes
Thats ok for RDJ, SJ and CE in a Secret Wars movie in the future, but should not be overused

1. This doesn't make any sense.
2. Jamie Foxx wasn't even a good Electro. It was one of the worst villains of the franchise and one of the worst performances by such a high level actor.
3. This was the movie that tanked the Spider-Man movie franchise and caused Sony to make a deal with marvel.
4. What the frell is going on?
Purely my own speculation but it's possible that this is the beginning of Sony's "Spider-verse" and Feige is using Foxx Electro as a means to begin the process of "releasing" Holland and Spiderman back to Sony.

It doesn't lend much hope to Marvel Studios and Sony working out another deal.

If Feige allows this to happen...I mean...I normally don't question his judgement and leadership...but...man...

Doesn't need to be just bringing characters to MCU. They can set up multiple universes and have continuity for all different universes without effecting MCU continuity. Only in crossovers. Example is bringing back Tobey in MCU film like Strange, reintroduce his universe, then potentially continue that universe -franchise outside MCU. Or introduce a new Cap in another universe in MCU film, then continue on with a whole new film universe, 616 film universe for example, and then again have a seperate continuity. I realise they won't produce all different universe films yearly, but it makes concept solidified and gives options creatively. Tom Cruise as Iron Man in Strange just a potential cameo-gag but could that universe be revisited at some point later? A great pitch -idea and it could happen Hmmm. New stories with classic characters, but MCU remains the backbone.

No one knows the details of what was agreed but like we all knew Feige was going to have to start the transition somehow, and this seems to be it. But yeah Electro would have been the last one I would of guessed.....well besides Rhino.

Let's bring back Marton Csokas as Ashley Kafka. We didn't get enough of him in that ****ty movie.

That's what right now I'm thinking might be happening as far as what Feige might be planning long term. I mean it could be a way for him to sort of artificially extend the lifespan of the MCU for forever if they leave it open to say "there's a different version that character over here in this separate movie and things you think you've seen in the other universe might play out differently here..." stuff like that.

I mean not as What If?s since they're already making a show of that, but I mean more akin to the relationship between the classic 616 universe and the Ultimate universe. Obviously the MCU already borrows a lot from both, but who's to say you can't keep just taking different things from each in another interpretation and create a different kind of direction? I dunno haha.

Not for me it isn't. The multiverse thing has to be used responsibly. Max Dillon is a common criminal essentially. Most Spidey villains are. So them being at the center of some multiverse story is just....it rings false to me. Someone like Morgan I would get. But what I don’t want is for the MCU to cram multiverse crap into every movie. Something like Doctor Strange 2 is fine or for a villain like Kang where it is part of his gimmick. But for frigging Electro? The worst Spider-Man on-screen villain to date? Stupid.

I still doubt this is multiverse related.
