Comics Spider-man Reign

I was thinking, although Andrews may not have had this in mind, that Kraven could be the dead Kraven's son. That would explain why he looked younger than Peter, and it would pacify my feelings toward the lack of continuity :o. Although, I think Vulture should be long dead, too.

He mentioned that he "killed (spider-man) once before," so it's the original :o

well as far as I see it, this whole thing is a what if anyway, so I dont give a crap about any inconsistencies between it and the 616, it's a whole other universe

the issue was great. very depressing and all. do you guys think anyone else ,superhero type, will rise up? the dialogue spidey has when he is in costume is excellent.

hustler was a sexy addition.

ock was used wonderfly.. i think hell be used to whip peter into shape. as he did reveal to peter that "hey.. MJ is dead.. time to step up".

Seeing as Kraven is supposed to be dead in continuity, I think them being younger looking is the least of the slight continuity errors...Vulture still looks old as hell though, Kraven probably came back from the dead whenever at the same age he was as he died, so he'd probably be only slightly younger depending on when it happened, Sandman just may not show age as he's made of sand and could look however he want..you dont see Scorpion, Elector, or Mysterio's faces, so they may not even be the originals...
the story isnt in continuity though is it?

read issue 2, really liked it, I don't think its a rip off of DKR, in fact only similarity I really see atm is the fact that heroes are banned by oppresive rule, which to be fair isnt that much of a strech from the current status of the marvel u, the character of spidey in no way reminds me of batman in DKR except maybe the shaving

I don't think that's what he's doing. He wasn't even digging anywhere near MJ's grave. Look at where he's digging, and where Peter is lying.

I think Ock is going to try and bury Peter or something. Looking at the cover to issue 3, Peter's hanging out of a coffin with Ock standing over him.

I just got the first 2 and loved them. I only have two questions though. In the first one, did Pete kill that Reign officer? There seemed to be some continuity errors as to where Peter was in relation to the body and I didn't know if he was dreaming it or if he actually killed that guy. Also, why is he wearing the black costume? There was 1 or 2 panels in the first issue showing the red and blue and then it went to showing him in the black costume. What's going on?

bah.. was hoping hed go the mentor direction.. as in..they both see whats wrong with society.. and ock and spidey will team up...

boo

did anyone else notice the car that hit peter was driven by a female with red hair? do you think maybe this is an insight to the way mj died or just put in?

anyone else notice the name of the news reporter btw??? nice lil acknowledgement there lol

When has Ock ever acted as a mentor to Spider-Man?? Ock has always seen society as wrong, because he sees everyone around him as beneath him.

And Spider-Man is part of that.

I think there's alot more to this than meets the eye. I also think there's a reason why Octavius himself was kept in the shadows. I think he might be scarred or deformed in some way. And it may be because of a past battle with Peter.

The plot thickens. I am eagerly awaiting issue 3.

No, who's name was it??

he never has but this is a pretty extreme situation and it would have been differnt or at least great to see ock taking the killing blow for spidey somewhere down the line... he isnt the smartest of spidey's rogues..

Not the smartest of Spidey's rogues?? He is one of THE smartest villains. Not just in Spidey's rogues gallery, but in the Marvel universe, too.

Ock take a blow for Spidey?? Why the heck would he do that?? He's not Harry Osborn. And he's not the teaming up with heros type. Leave that to meat heads like Venom.

i meant smartest..typo.. and no need to take a shot at my fave character

I know one was Miller Janson, and I think one was named Varr Jones. As in FrankMiller, Klaus Janson, and Lynn Varley.

Ah, very clever.

It wasn't a shot. Venom does team up with other heros, yes?? I've seen him and Spidey work together several times.

Ock on the other hand, would never ally himself with any hero, unless there was something really beneficial in it for him.

Actually I think Octavius is more than just scarred. HE'S DEAD! And the tentacles are still operating with some sort of remnant conciousness.

Even though he was kept in the shadows. If you look closely at Octavius' posture you can see his body is quite limp! This is made even clearer on the cover to issue #3. If further proof is needed check out the solicitation for issue #3. It says something about Spidey having to contend with the thing formerly known as Otto Octavius.

I think it's a cool idea. In a twistedly dark kinda way.

Dead???

But his arms can't operate unless his mind is controlling them. Unlike the movie, they don't have artificial intelligence. How could they know where to find Spidey, take him to a graveyard, and start digging?? Why would they even want to do that??

Doesn't make sense.

You're assuming the Kaare Andrew's is playing by the 616 continuity rules. Which I don't think he is!

That aside, as I said, look at his posture in this issue and the cover to issue #3. It speaks for itself. The Doc is clearly a dead man. As for the tentacles motivations in taking Spidey to the graveyard; If i'm correct and they are operating with some remnant conciousness/instinct from Octavius' mind. Then the question could also be asked, why would HE even want to do that himself?
