A really good movie about long distance running is "On the Edge" starring Bruce Dern.

An strange thing about this film is...when I saw it at the theater, it was an interesting movie about Dern training to run, in an annual long distance race in his home town that he has been banned for many years from running in. When it came out on tape it had a whole new sub story about his girlfriend Pam Grier that was cut from the theatrical release. If it comes out on DVD I hope it is the longer version that I saw on tape.

Fantastic movie....I don't think of it as a sports movie (I know many others do)...but a fantastic movie none the less.

Rudy and Any Given Sunday are great. Major League is hilarious.

My favorite would have to be Field of Dreams, although I guess technically it's not a sports movie, because it's not about a team/player.

Blue Chips is also another overlooked movie.

invincible really missed the mark, the whole concept of just being some guy off the streets was fabricated. not to mention the inconsistencies were so frequent that it really took me out of the feeling.

they couldnt even get the ****ing eagles' fight song right.

maybe because you aren't from philly, it doesn't bother you guys that much if at all.
