Hey, people: the chinese DVD is in MANDARIN LANGUAGE ONLY.

No english language. No english subtitles. Just the good old Mandarin.

I was actually referring to the in-China piracy problem, if there is one.

It would be kinda' funny if they got soem people who can barely speak English to do the voiceovers for US pirate copies, though.

Heck when i went to my native country ( where there's been a flood of chinese people coming lately) in June , i was astounded o see which dvd's they got . All of them illegal copies of course .

So how exactly is WB going to attack piracy when they just gave them a dvd to rip completely
HEck why not release the dvd in all countries on the same date.

Try to imagine a store the size of four blockbusters, PIRATE COPIES ONLY. You just imagined ONE of the many, many pirate video stores in China.

No, it might be in English language as not all of Chinese viewers may like to see the movie in Mandarin and there may be an option for a Mandarin soundtrack and ofcourse subtitles. It is extremely likely as I have seen in India as well. And, let me just add that all this talk of hard copying really seems lame, specially with the technology and brains that some people have these days.

I'm curious though what the dvd cover looks like and what the quality of the picture is on such an early release.

Its a very strange and drastic decision by WB but i think it might pay off in the end. Sometimes the only way you can tackle a big problem is with an aggresive attitude.
