In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Home Video has revealed that they will re-release the Bryan Singer film 'Superman Returns' on September 9th (2008) with a Dolby TrueHD and PCM soundtracks. To the disappointment of fans, the original Blu-ray release featured only a Dolby Digital soundtrack while the HD DVD got the lossless audio track. Warner is now rectifying the situation with a proper Blu-ray release.

Editions of 'Superman Returns' with the Dolby TrueHD soundtrack were originally made available in a limited quantity with the purchase of certain Pioneer Blu-ray players. Since that time, fans have been eagerly awaiting Warner to re-release the title with the upgraded soundtrack.

I think this should be on the cover:

I might have to start thinking about getting myself a Blu-Ray player, that formatt seems to be the future at the moment, does it say anything about extra's?

Maybe they will add it now. Watch it be on a bonus disc exclusively from Best Buy or Target.

From Aint It Cool News:
Another media analyst is predicting Blu-ray dominance by the next presidential election year, and this one expects a 3-to-2 landslide. From TV Week:
Blu-ray will overtake standard DVDs as the primary form of content software within the next four years, accounting for 61% of the U.S. DVDs sold by 2012, U.K.-based consultant Futuresource says. Such growth will easily outpace that in western Europe, where Blu-ray will account for between 39% and 50% of DVD sales by 2012, according to the report.

Trade group Entertainment Merchants Association made a similar prediction in June. Futuresource analyst Jack Wetherill blames plummeting pricing for Blu-ray players, “likely” to drop to $250 before Christmas.

According to Amazon, "Superman Returns" on blu-ray is now out of print.

^Maybe a good sign? Finally got my blu-ray player but will probably wait for a special edition of some sort with SR.

Up to you. A new one hasn't been announced yet, but I have certainly got my use out of the one I own.

^Well my blu-ray player upscales DVD's pretty damn well, so I just dont see the point in getting SR on blu-ray with the same extra's. Not like the sales are going to effect the outcome of a sequel now anyway! :cwink:

Just debating on whether to re-purchase this on Blu-ray, its a movie I love but I would rather wait until we get an extended cut, but if we never get one i'll be waiting forever!

^I just wish they would release some news at least about an extended version on Blu-ray, I would buy it the day it came out with no hesitation, especially if it had the theatrical version on as well.

Are STM and SR worth a re-purchase on blu-ray? I just cant help thinking how spectacular certain scene's in SR wouldl be on BD.

The first Christopher Reeve Superman movie is only $9.99 on blu-ray, and it's definitely worth it at that price.

^SR isnt much more expensive and there is a box set for the 2 so may by it.

Just got SR on Bd with STM but dont think it was the re-released version, is the sound still good on the normal BD version?
