Exactly. I have about 4 different versions of the Empire Strikes Back soundtrack, as well as 3 different Superman soundtracks.

Right, but what we're saying is that the very minimal original soundtrack had a small percentage of the actual score on it, and many years later they finally released a more complete version.

^ actually it should be six years, since the latest re-release was in February 2000 if I recall correctly...and don't get me wrong, I enjoy the hell out of it (just finally was able to get that particular soundtrack from an Amazon seller for a decent price ) but Williams seems to take a hell of a long time getting the whole of his earlier works on CD.

Hopefully, it'll be at least twice as good. The score was one of the weakest points of that movie.

Hmm personally I hope it's a lot better than BB's. I really didn't like that score at. Except for the JNH cues, it sounded like every other Hans Zimmer piece. I loved how Zimmer basically rationalized Batman for his style of music. I read him say somewhere that "I thought since Batman was not a normal character, and a creature of the night, I shouldn't use a normal orchestra." Well Zimmer NEVER uses a normal orchestra, or even an orchestra at all anymore. It's all electronic. And everything is orchestrated the same way.

I don't know, are you serious? I thought it was, for the most part, dull, monotone and uninspired Zimmer wankery. Howard's parts were pretty great, especially the flashback scene with young Bruce and the father, but the Zimmer parts are pretty much the same old three-note plodding melodies he keeps recycling for all his scores. BB2 needs a new main composer.

I thought BB's soundtrack was pretty good. I mean, it had it's "wow" moments, and it had it's WTF moments.

john ottman vs. batman staff ... that's a no brainer.

ottman may be good but his x-2 efforts weren't exactly strong selling points for that movie -- though the cerebro score kicked ass.

I am a musician and I thought BB score was one of the worst scores ever in a superhero movie. Especially compared to a movie that was so good like Batman Begins. Seriously. And this sucks. The main theme is stupid, some parts of the score doesn`t translate at all with what Batman is thinking. The sword fight is one. When Neeson says "It was your father`s, the score should`ve turned into a revenge song, showing what Batman was thiking. The trailer had it right. But in the movie it was an uplifting score that had nothing to do what was happening in the scene. The same with the trial of Joe Chill. THe score almost makes you feel pity of Joe Chill and instead, We see Bruce Wayne almost crying with rage. The score sucked. It is no way as classic as Danny Elfman`s or Shirley Walker`s, it is not dark, nor broody. There are some good parts like the Ra`s theme or the childhood theme, but in the most important parts of the movie, it failed. It was one of the weekest part of BB, IMO.

Think Predator and The Abyss. Stuff like that could have made seem BB godly in comparison.

Funny, I thought of that particular track to be more about the training montage as a whole, and found the song very appropriate...it was part of the training, not a duel to the death that would invoke spastic chords. The uplifting bit, showing his resolution to keep going, keep trying, rising above, etc. But hey, different strokes for different folks.
