Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Corpulent = Dead to me.

Now that I have covered all of this, you can finally begin to compute why I can never prove to Emily that Star Wars is a monumental event worth devoting one’s life to. The very nature of the argument means I have to defend Star Wars, and since I am a Star Wars fan, I don’t actually understand how to do that.

Maybe I’ll put it like this. To be a Star Wars fan, one must possess the ability to see a million different failures and downfalls, and then somehow assemble them into a greater picture of perfection. Every true Star Wars fan is a Luke Skywalker, looking at his twisted, evil father, and somehow seeing good.

My earlier statement needs slight revision. We hate everything about Star Wars.

But the idea of Star Wars…the idea we love.

Quote however much of that article you like at me; it's still ******ed and pretentious. I'm a Star Wars fan and I like a lot of stuff the franchise has been doing. I hate a lot of stuff--mostly from the prequel trilogy and the special edition edits--but I still think the Star Wars franchise as a whole is really good. I love a lot of the EU stuff. In the end, it's always pretentious to declare what someone else is or isn't a fan of.

Don't you understand the use of hyperbole to illustrate a point, it's a humor peice. One based in truth but a humor peice all the same.

How can you read the article and not laugh at every second sentence because I'm a huge StarWars fan and this article resonates with me a ton, I'd figure other people would find the article funny to.

It uses hyperbole to be funny, but I got the impression that its core is still the guy's actual opinion. Otherwise it wouldn't really be an editorial, it'd be a puff humor piece.

*shrug* in every joke there's a bit of truth, but that just heightens the absurditity of not only the author but the truth which it is based in.

Probably because I've heard people recite a lot of the same arguments in total seriousness. It's kind of sad how closed-minded a lot of Star Wars fans are.

I thought the game was supposed to be about how the Jedi Purge went down and the show was supposed to be about minor characters throughout the 20-year gap between episodes III and IV. If that's true, they don't really cover "the same" things. There's a whole galaxy of stuff going on simultaneously. I don't see a problem with placing both the game and the show in canon. They did it with the Clone Wars comics and cartoon pretty well.

There will be some overlap... isn't Shaak Ti the end villain in the game? I know Lucas definitely wants her for the T.V shows along with other minor Jedi characters... things may not be consistent.

Both the show and the game are canon. I dont know if Shaak Ti is the end villain in the game but the games story takes place over several years. It actually ends when Episode IV starts and its been said that IV wouldnt have happened if it werent for The Apprentice (According to Witwer that plays the apprentice).

Plus there are going to be more than one endings to the game with only one, obviously, beeing the official ending (which will also be revealed in the comics and the novel) so he could end up not killing Shaak Ti.

We'll have to wait until we actually play the game to find out more about the story. I don't think they'll release any more info other than whats available at the official site.

I think that quote is just Witwer trying to bring more credibility to the game and his character as far as the story is concerned... that sounds a little ridiculous to me... The Apprentice really had nothing to do with Luke becoming a Jedi... heck Vader wasn't even trying to track down his son in any of the originals. It wasn't like Vader was seeking Luke as a replacement... he made the casual offer in Episode 5 when they faced off... but I doubt that was Vader's intentions all along. I am not buying that. Plus... I hope the alternate ending versions are true though... it wouldn't make sense if the Apprentice is still alive at the end... if it ends with him going into hiding or calling it quits... then it's stupid... heck... it should be Shaak Ti that kills him. Not the other way around... unless Vader kills his own Apprentice himself... but that's kinda stupid too... just throwing out my own speculations... I know we know nothing about the story... but I am merely trying to come to the rash but obvious conclusions.

I know, but the game does takes place over several years and there might be something, that the apprentice does, that leads us to episode IV. Something that if he hadnt done, episode IV wouldnt have happened (or actually, it would have been different).
Witwer said that at Celebration IV. He has read the script. But yeah..I'm just trying to find out where they're going with the story.

As for the multiple endings. I'd love to see Vader and the apprentice overthrowing the Emperor, or maybe the apprentice kills Vader and takes his place or they could even have the apprentice turn to the light side and get killed by Vader.
I do not want any of the endings I mentioned to be the official ending but I think they would be cool to see.

I think the official ending will have the apprentice die..How? I dont know..But letting him live wouldnt make sense since the story is canon and him hiding, as you said, is kinda stupid.

I'd really want to see the next trailer focus on the story and I'd also like to find out what are their plans for multiplayer.

So does anyone know if we'll be able to play as Darth Vader himself? Considering the Sith in the game is his secret apprentice and all.

Maybe in some kind of bonus mission. I'm sure you'll be able to play as Vader in multiplayer though, or at least I hope...

They couldn't resist allowing you to play as the fully armored Vader in the game for Episode III, where he appears in the film for all of, what, ten minutes? I think it's a safe bet that they'll at least make him playable in a multiplayer or vs. mode in this game, where he's actually central to the plot.

I think some of you are taking this love for Star Wars to a new, uber dorky level. First of all, and some of you may not know this, but Star Wars is set in a COMPLETELY FAKE UNIVERSE. So arguments like, "oh a jedi cant do that" might be THE dumbest thing you could possibly say being that because a jedi is NOT REAL(yes, jedis are NOT real), Lucas and his team can pretty much say and do anything they want to that universe and you'll have to accept it as is, ya know why? BECAUSE ITS NOT REAL, ITS FICTION. Just a simple creation by some filmmaker.

Its one thing to not like the game because you just dont think itll be good, but to b!tch that it isnt plausible is complete nonsense.

You should really just leave these boards now if that kind of stuff bothers you. Other people around here take Star Wars and comics a lot more seriously than the people in here.

Then its time to grow the f**k up. They are NOT meant to be taken seriously, at all.

I don't get why it bothers you so much, but you're entitled to your opinion. Just like those people who take it seriously are entitled to theirs.

It doesn't "bother" me. I just think its insane to get that riled up about a FICTIONAL setting.

Seemed like it bothered you in your last couple of posts. If people want to get riled up, what's the harm to you? It's not like they're yelling at you about it or anything. Just ignore them.

No harm, im just trying to help them look less like morons. Guess its my way of giving back to the community.

No offense, but you're on a message board that was created so that people could talk about and scrutinize movies based on superheroes every step of the way. People who care about fiction are kind of the rule, not the exception.

Its cool to have strong feelings for fictional media, i mean hell i got bent outta shape about the third Spider-Man film, but just remember at the end of the day, its all fake.

Well, yeah. I don't think anyone around here is gonna be caught standing outside of Skywalker Ranch with a sniper rifle anytime soon.
