Star Wars: The Force Unleashed....
Hunt down the last of the Jedi as Darth Vader's secret apprentice.
(Xbox 360, PS3)

This info is in the latest gameinformer magazine. Here are some pics thanks to DiaperMeat over at the gamefaqs.com forums. Unfortunatelly he didnt have a scanner and he used a camera instead.

If anyone has this issue of gameinformer and a scanner it would be cool...

Bad ass. Im guessing this is the game that was shown as the development video. In all the Jedi games iv played (Kotor 1&2, Jedi Knight series) iv always been a good guy, but to play as Darth Vaders apprentice will be freakin sweet. Damn that game is gonna be bad ass.

IGN have put up a pre vis video of this game. It doesn't look like you play as Vader's apprentice but instead you play as Jedi. From the looks of the pre vis the game looks amazing! I dunno if it's actual in game footage or cinematics but either way I'm looking forward to it!

The pre-vis video is old. Its just something they created at Lucasarts from ideas they had for force powers they could use in their new Star Wars game. The characters are not the ones you'll see in the videogame. At least their look is not final.
Heres an interview about the pre-vis video: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/721/721178p1.html

In the game you do play as Darth Vader's secret apprentice. I think now that the first real info has been released Lucasarts will announce the game sometime this week (until Friday).

You could get to play as other characters but I'm going with the cover of the magazine because I dont have the magazine and no one seems to be able to scan it so we can read all the info.

Aw. Well hopefully the game will look just as good as those pre vis shots.

That article is a very promising read! With the Saga Boxset and this game, this year is shaping up to be a great one for Star Wars!

Does anyone have the magazine? I really want to read the article about the game but I cant from the pics I posted.
Could anyone scan the pages about Star Wars? Is there a site I could buy a digital copy of the magazine? They dont sell it here.

What exactly seems ******ed? The idea of playing as Darth Vader's secret apprentice? Darth Vader having an apprentice?

Well originally when they released to concept video I thought they made the force powers seem way to powerful. Almos tlike an Xtreme StarWars or something (I didn't like the hyper stylizing of Clone Wars either:o) according to the article your character becomes even stronger than the Emperor himself.

So it's the idea of Darth Vader having a secret apprentice to attempt to kill the emperor with as some sort of atonement. The fact that this secret apprentice exists and is more powerful then either Vader or the Emperor. Generally the implausability of it all.

Why don't they just make a video game where you can be Boba Fett and get over with it? I mean, all these crappy, filler Star Wars games are starting to get redundant.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, are you listening to yourself???? ITS F'NG STAR WARS. EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS IMPLAUSIBLE. Nothing in that universe makes any kind of real sense, thats why its fiction.

There's already a game that lets you play as...well...not Boba Fett but Jango Fett. Its called Bounty Hunter. Its for the PS2 and the Gamecube.
Plus this game is not supposed to be a filler game but an official story between episode III and IV.

Well I see what you mean...but I havent read the article because the magazine isnt available here and I cant read anything from the pics I posted. Are there scans of the magazine or is the article available elsewhere?

But about the force powers. Its a videogame. I think if they didnt make them kinda extreme it wouldnt be very fun to play. Plus we dont know how they will actually work in-game. The pre-vis video was released on July and it was created a year before its release.

New details of Star Wars: Force Unleashed 11.02.07 -

The American Game Informer has new details to the Actiongame star Wars: Force Unleashed (PS3, Xbox 360), which develops with LucasArts

- history plays between star Wars episode III and episode IV Darth Vader recognized that the Emporer had clean-put in, when it pulled into on the dark side of power. Vader knows however that it is too late, to turn around. The only possibility is to destroy the Imperator with another apprentice: This role takes over the player. The action builds Wars episode V on the dialogue from star - The Empire Strikes back up, when Vader said to hatch that he than the Imperator become stronger and could him fall. - the play uses the ' Euphoria engine ' and DMM: DMM is an engine, by which everything receives its completely individual characteristics in the play.

Example you hurls a Stormtrooper with ' Force Push ' into a tree. The tree breaks either in two halves or splinters. If it were a steel wall, then it could leave a dent.

Instead of the developers having to program and animate different conditions of damage, the play calculates these via DMM in real time. - at the beginning one is controlled a trained Sith, that the majority of the forces of power (Force speed, Force Push, Force Lightning, etc.). In the play process will one ever stronger, learns new forces and becomes even more powerful than the Emperor. - the abilities of powers are unbelievably represented:

With the use of ' Force Push ' it looks, as if someone is hit by a cannon ball - for the power forces there is an energy border. Some abilities like e.g.. ' Repulsion ' need a few seconds, before they are available. ' Force Push ' is available against it in unlimited number. - the control pattern follows psi Ops. - history turns around the apprentice, who hunts the remaining Jedi and than Vader becomes stronger.

In a duel one kaempt against Shaak Ti: It created it in ' episode III ' to escape during execution of the order 66 from the Jedi temple living. In StarWars: Force Unleashed has it several Rancors under their control: A Rancor was to be seen e.g. in episode VI in the prison of Jabba the Hutt, for the hunt for hatch Skywalker made. The Rancor can eat the player. But with the help of power the player the Rancor can zerfetzen from the inside out. - there history between the two motion picture films acts, is the end actually already given. The developers stress however that it will probably give alternative end. - Vader will be probably also playable. - one works at multi-player modes. -

StarWars: Force Unleashed looks like a combination of Ninja Gaiden, God OF was, The matrix, 300 and star Wars. - the release: November 2007 (the USA)

I would love to be just a fallen Jedi or whatever, who tries to learn the ways of the sith, but being an apprentice of Darth Vader seems sort of contrived. :o

Jango Fett sucks my cock. He is the worst excuse for trying to explain Boba Fett's origins that I have ever seen. What a pansy. He might as well not exist at all. :o

Boba Fett >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jango Fett

To be fair, Jango did a much better job at confronting a Jedi(Obi Wan) than Boba did(Luke) so he's not that much of a pansy!

You know you suck when you're killed by physical comedy.

That's only because Han (I think) hit Boba's jet pack and it malfunctioned. Plus, he escaped the Sarlaac as it is. Lucas (the d-bag he may be) acknowledged that he was going to add a scene where Boba escaped, but it would take away from the death of Jabba.

Though, the "death" of Boba took away from Jabba's own death anyways. So actually, Boba survived. EAT IT!

Thank you very much. I appreciate it.

So.. does anyone know who's developing this?

The PS3 and 360 version is apparently in house by Lucas Arts

Yeah I just got my new Game Informer yesterday and this game has potential. I struggled with the Babelfish posted by the OP, but these are the details in English:

- 360 and PS3 versions developed in-house by Lucasarts (uh-oh)
- PS2, PSP, and DS versions farmed out to another dev house - no Wii version confirmed
- based upon the engine seen in the tech demo at E3 last year
- Confirmed that there is no 'Darth Vader' game that was heavily rumored last year. This is the game and Vader plays a prominent role.
- No confirmation but eluded to the possibility of Vader being a playable character.
- George Lucas had a lot of input on the game and helped design many of the newer characters

As for the story - takes place between Episodes III and IV. You are Darth Vader's apprentice. Vader has had plans to overthrow the Emperor since about 5 minutes after he himself became a Sith Lord - remember his conversation with Padme before his duel with Obi Wan? Vader has always been looking for apprentices to help him kill the Emperor so that he can become the Sith Master. Always 2 there are - no more, no less, a master and an apprentice. The article says that we will get a deeper understanding of Vader in the game because the events that happen in the game affect his motivations for the character we see in the original trilogy. This game is apparently getting the royal treatment ala Shadows of the Empire from a few years back. Not only will there be a game, but also a toy line, a novel, and a comic book series.

That doesn't sound as bad as I was originally think it would. THe part about becoming more powerful than the Emperor better not be true, and jebus don't make it too Xtreme please.

The whole idea of the game sounds very interesting. Just hope there isn't any force meter on screen. To be honest, nothing ****s me more than having to wait for a meter to fill up on screen until I can use 'force push' again.

All force abilities should have no meter on screen, unlimited use for the player...and if people say its wouldn't make the game fair...well deal with it. Make the level design more difficult to navigate and make lightsaber battles just that, a battle. Not just pressing A and B to swing a blade and take out every person on screen in a matter of moments. With next gen consoles they have the power to make games like Star Wars just like the movies. I want to see true lightsaber battles that actually challenge me (the player) and make me work out a plan of attack before taking on a room full of storm troopers.

Well from the translated article Zenien posted, you can see that there is a force meter but not for all force powers. It says for example that you'll be able to use push anytime you like but you'll have to wait a little in order to use a more powerful force power again.

Oh...I also read at a couple of forums that LucasArts will make an announcement on Tuesday so I guess we will know more then.

Its Tuesday in Australia right now...does that count :)
