Starz Original Series - Spartacus: Vengeance

Lesley-Anne Brandt is hotter than the new girl.

I agree. I always thought Brandt looked a bit like Halle Berry to me, and I'm disappointed that she decided not to return for season 2 (just when her character seemed to get a better storyline).

Does Lawless get naked? I saw a layout in EW that damn near had her breasts hanging out of her robe, and was like :wow::up:

If so, I may have to start watching. :o

If you want to watch it for this reason, then yes! :awesome:

I liked the first 5 episodes :o

I only had some problem with the first episode, but I became hooked after the 2nd one.

I think you guys should wait until the new girl shows her **** and ass before making a final judgement. :)

Bought the new Entertainment Weekly for this spread:

Is Lawless gonna be a ghost or something in this?

No. She didn't die last season. Just badly wounded.

I like it but I would have liked it more with you know who. Like this photo I feel the same way about Liam at the moment.

I don't normally go for blondes, but Viva Bianca aka Illythia is ssssoooooo hot!

There's a shot in the final ep Kill them All, where she has the door shut on all the romans being slaughtered in the ludus, basically locking them inside and she looks towards the camera as the door closes; her face in that shot is so sexy and evil at the same time.....i must find it. :hrt:

Beautiful picture. It almost looks like a Frazetta painting.

Anyone see the starz studio feature about Vengeance?

The small bit about the Phantom camera they use was interesting.

Are you talking of this one?

Yeah that's the one. I would like to know what frame rate that camera captures at. I know the track was zooming it along pretty damn fast and detail it was picking up was astounding.

Starz sent me screeners of episodes 3 and 4. Good stuff. However I got to be honest, I don't much care for the new actress for Naevia. Perhaps I got too used to Brandt, but I don't much care for the new actress from the way Naevia is reintroduced into the story.

Some other stuff:

-Lucy Lawless/Lucretia does have one small sex scene in the fourth episode with Illythia's old and ugly father, ick.

-Gaius and Illythia are forced to live in the former House of Batiatus until Spartacus is catpured and his revolt is put down.

-Ashur works for Gaius now. They capture Animaeus/Doctore and Ashur tortures him. Lucretia comes up with a scheme to catch Spartacus by having Ashur reveal to Animaeus about the infidelity of Animaeus' with Gannicus. The revelation causes Animaeus to indirectly reveal that Crixus and Spartacus will try and find Naevia.

-Spartacus, Crixus, and co. are able to save Naevia from the mines but barely escape. Crixus is captured and taken back to the house of Batiatus. Lucretia actually opts not to have Crixus be killed and instead forced to fight to the death in the arena.

Liam McIntyre, still don't know yet. I just miss Andy and Andy was better at this role no question.

I think the show is still good. The dialogue I think has gotten better and it sounds I think even more Shakespearean this season if that makes any sense but it is still easy to understand. Illythia looks to have become an even more crazed villain than Lucretia. Though Illythia and Lucretia are both playing a chess game with each other where one wrong move would mean devastation.

^Wish i hadn't read those spoilers...but sounds like good stuff!

Yes Lencho01, I'm also an entertainment journalist and I do various entertainment news and interviews. So I get sent screeners and promo materials from time to time.

I got them for the first season of the show as well. Hoping to get some interviews with this cast and crew at some point, fingers crossed.

One other thing about Lucretia:

Ashur was the one that rescued her after the Fall of the House of Batiatus. Ashur found Lucretia and sewed up her mangled womb and stomach.

Lucretia has sort of gone a little nutty. She believes she is some type of oracle now and wants a prophecy to be fulfilled. The Roman nobility sort of buys into it as well. This of course pisses off Illythia since she knows Lucretia is nutty and it helps Lucretia manipulate the nobility. Of course Illythia wants to be the one doing that.

GREAT first episode back. The show hasnt lost any quality. While Liam wont be able to match Andys Spartacus, he is good at playing the vegence.

Just saw the first episode! Awesome. About Liam, if you base his performance on Andy's you can see that he is heavily inspired by Whitfield's portrayal. At the same time though, Liam seems to be putting a new spin on the character.

I'll reserve final judgment for the season finale. Whitfield didn't really show his A-game until mid-season anyway, and seeing as how this is a new Spartacus, it'll take the entire season to adjust to him for me.

I'd like to see Liam's Spartacus, at the end of the season, distinctly unique from Whitfield's portrayal. Not in the same vein that Craig's Bond is different from Connery's Bond, but nevertheless a noticeable difference.

Maybe a bit more of a calm and collected Spartacus that suits his leadership role.

Just saw the first episode online. Loved it! You can tell Spartacus is not used to being in the leader role yet. I'm sure by the end of the season, he'll get his vengeance hopefully. Or maybe it will be ongoing throughout the series. Liam is doing okay so far. I still miss Andy but I'm sure Liam will make the role his own very soon.

So happy Spartacus is back. Liam did a fine job in my opinion. They also dedicated the ep to Andy which is nice. Is Spartacus a baby daddy?

That's what I was thinking. I think Spartacus may be the father.

Oh **** I didn't even think about Spartacus being the father! Glaber was such a little ***** in this episode lol.
