yeah I did get those two mixed up thanks, Jade Yorker would be a good choice too, I was going to go with him or Lee Thompson Young for Static, but IDK he just seemed more like he would be the closest to the animated version...

I've already made my feelings about this show known, but to reiterate, I didn't care for it at all and I think that the resources would be better spent on making a Black Lightning movie. However, if for some reason they decided to skip BL and make a Static movie instead, then whatev.

black lightning would be a safe choice to do first, not alot of people who dont read comic books know who he is. static has a wide range of fans most of them dont even read comic books. i figure that ur one of the people who think static copied black lightning just because there powers are similar. but anyways u should think about it like this: for years batman and superman were the only dc comic movies being made and then watchmen come out and became the #1 movie and it was actually pretty good and well written. watchmen wasnt even a popular comicbook and turned out great, and all that was before they made the obvious choice of makin wonderwoman, flash, or green lantern. u cant knock it just because u would rather see a live action black lightning movie. neither is being made for now anyway. but im not sayin that u were sayin that im just lettin u know, if it turned out u were. no disrespect.

This thread is mainly about adapting the comic book, which was much superior compared to the cartoon (nevermind the fact that Static has a much more varied powerset than Black Lightning). Have you read the comic?

People are just focusing on the tv show and not the original comic series. Same as TMNT...all they know is the show.

That's why if there's going to be a movie, it needs to be based on the book. That way, more casual fans get the opportunity to experience the comic book mythos.

Well you see, this forum is for discussing DC comic books. There is another forum specified for discussing movies based off of DC comics. I was asking Corp and Drak, two moderators, to move your thread to keep things running smoothly, but apparently the two of them are on a smoke break.

This was the image that made the cover of DC's Brave and Bold #24. Static Teamed up with Black Lightning in that issue and is now a member of the Teen Titans. Since the early part of this year the Milestone Universe has merged with that of DC. All of the Milestone characters are published and licensed by DC and (ultimately) Time-Warner. Static would seem like fair game to me in this thread.

Static Shock is more popular and would probably do a little better in theaters than Black Lightning. Who in the general public really knows that guy outside of (DC) fans?

The question is, who would McDuffie sign off on?

No, this thread was in the section for discussing only DC comics, not DC movies. That's from before this thread was moved here.

Part of me hopes that if they were to make a Static movie, it would break out and do 100 million dollars, but I'm really cynical.

See, some of the younger set know of him from Disney XD showing reruns, but you'd have to have a hybrid of comic book Static and cartoon Static in order to maintain the demographics they want. WB would pimp the hell out of this if it ever gets made.

well right now their is no plans for a film from what we know, but it would be nice to do a film.

this could possibly be it.

i sure hope so. but y is nobody posting their cast. as long as nobody says nick cannon, wesley johnathan, corbin bleu, or jaden smith im fine with it. is it because its already basically been done and that my thread sucks?

Corbin Bleu can act actually, and Wesley Jonathan whats wrong with him?

no offense to anybody who would want him, but corbin bleu is an oreo and any jokes he makes always come off as lame to me. not that he cant act but i just cant stand any character he plays. wesley johnathan? my problem with him is that he would be a better fit for larry wade than virgil. the way i look at it is most people pick him because they see viril as the funny guy with lots of hair. there should be way more to it than just lookin at the first guy with alot of hair and acts silly and say that he should play him. virgil is suposed to be short and skinny, and a slight bit nerdy (which is y he ends up with his powers in the first place. because he got bullied in school and he went to get revenge on the kid that punked him). he's not supposed to be the guy ladies love seein with his shirt off. and on top of all that could u really see wesley johnathan gettin bullied by anyone. that's y he's a no for me. i think the people that choose him dont really know much about the character other than he's black and he has alotta hair, that's y some people say coribin bleu and jaden smith. because they see that curly hair and figure thats wat virgil's hair should look like. at least thats how it seems when i look at it cuase they dont seem like logical choices to me. but thats just my opinion.
