no offense to anybody who would want him, but corbin bleu is an oreo and any jokes he makes always come off as lame to me. not that he cant act but i just cant stand any character he plays. wesley johnathan? my problem with him is that he would be a better fit for larry wade than virgil. the way i look at it is most people pick him because they see viril as the funny guy with lots of hair. there should be way more to it than just lookin at the first guy with alot of hair and acts silly and say that he should play him. virgil is suposed to be short and skinny, and a slight bit nerdy (which is y he ends up with his powers in the first place. because he got bullied in school and he went to get revenge on the kid that punked him). he's not supposed to be the guy ladies love seein with his shirt off. and on top of all that could u really see wesley johnathan gettin bullied by anyone. that's y he's a no for me. i think the people that choose him dont really know much about the character other than he's black and he has alotta hair, that's y some people say coribin bleu and jaden smith. because they see that curly hair and figure thats wat virgil's hair should look like. at least thats how it seems when i look at it cuase they dont seem like logical choices to me. but thats just my opinion.

A good looking male can still get picked on and bullied in school or punked. But I see what you are saying.

I just want this movie done right cause Static is an underrated awesome super hero. Hopefully WB does this goodl ike Batman and Watchmen.

It was supposed to be a Guy Ritchie film until another director stepped in.

It seems that if the DC Static ever gets adapted to the big screen, it will have to be titled "Static Shock" to avoid confusion. Sort of like James Cameron's Avatar vs. MNS' The Last Airbender.

That's leaving out the fact that there's yet another movie titled "Static."

there have been several movies titled "Static". but y not just call it static the movie. i really wouldnt like it being called Static:The Movie like they did superman. cause alot of ignorant fans thought the name of the show was his name, and i really hate hearin people call him static shock.

agreed! I must admit I thought his name was Static Shock up until last month, I always thought they just called him Static for short... I think it was more because of the theme song -for me anyway- "Superhero Static Shock ooo-ooo!"... that theme song was da shiz back in 5th grade


plus I just watched a few eps of the series online and I think a great storyline would be the one featured in the few eps of the first season (esp 1+2) ... where his origins are told, he investigates the ALVA comapny, behind the whole big bang, his crush on Freida and finally stands up to his school bully ... IDK if these characters or storylines were in the comic, but I think it'd be a great approach for a solid first movie: intro Static and develop his character from nerd to hero... and end it with an Ebon cameo ... setting him and his "collection of bang babies" up for the villains of the 2nd film where he uses Derek or the Dwayne kid for his evil schemes and tries to turn Static to the dark side


Ebon.... Gary Anthony Sturgis (voice of Ebon on Static Shock/ Diary of a Mad Black Woman) the guy is too eerily sinister not to be able to pull of the role

my problem is people were callin him static shock b4 romeo's theme song. callin the movie static shock would just add to that IMO. but i guess it would b better than callin the movie simply "Static".

^yeah I see what you're saying about the title egging on the wrong name, but Static, as a movie title would be kinda dull especially in comparison to Static Shock, but I guess it mainly comes down to the film's promotional material vs. a great title... either title I'd love to see a live action adaptation

I'm no comic-buff so this is animated series inspired, but I did read up on Static on a website called Comicvine (not sure if reliable???) and kinda mixed some elements, as I couldn't find too many comic images of the characters...

Plot Idea
Virgil Hawkins was your average, nerd. He got straight A’s, loved comics and was a die hard superhero fan who couldn’t throw a punch to save his life. But one night, a night now known as “The Big Bang”, Virgil’s life would change forever… It began in a flash; one minute he was kicking it with his boy Richie, the next he was caught up in a 500-man gang brawl on Paris Island. The police arrived and deployed what they thought was tear gas. Within minutes, 90% of the gang bangers lay dead, those who survived either suffered horrible mutations, while some, like Virgil, discovered shocking new talents. It’s all fun and games until Virgil realizes that those who survived (deemed “Bang Babies”) are being hunt down by a menacing villain, with an even deadlier agenda. Now Virgil must master his newfound abilities and defeat his foe to ensure Dakota’s survival!

after lookin at him on law & order i think anthony anderson could make a great chief barnsdale. plus it would be cool for people that dont watch law & order or havent seen k-ville to see him play a more serious character. he may not look much like him but his character makes me think of barnesdale everytime. i watch it. if they do make the movie the chief should be in it, since he and static's relationship is sort of similar to batman and comissioner gordon.

I have to agree with that one, I couldn't think of his name though, actually the kid that plays Chris and the kid that plays his friend would be great as Virgil and Richie.

I'd love a Static movie, but I hope they make Black Lightning first because I like him more. But Static and Black Lightning are pretty different. Lightning is like more of a straight up superhero, while Static just seems like a regular guy. I dont know much about Static, but theres some nice casting ideas here.
