Stephen King '1922' Adaptation to Star Thomas Jane, Molly Parker (Exclusive)
Thomas Jane and Molly Parker are starring in the latest adaptation of a Stephen King story, Netflix's adaptation of the author's novella 1922.

Zak Hilditch will direct from the screenplay he wrote based on King's 131-page story telling of a man's confession of his wife's murder. The tale is told from from the perspective of Wilfred James, the story's unreliable narrator who admits to killing his wife, Arlette, with his son in Nebraska. But after he buries her body, he finds himself terrorized by rats and, as his life begins to unravel, becomes convinced his wife is haunting him.

Jane is playing Wilfred James, while Parker is playing Arlette. Dylan Schmid, Kaitlyn Bernard, Brian D’Arcy James and Neal McDonough also are starring. Ross M. Dinerstein is producing the film via his Campfire banner. The project is currently shooting in Vancouver.

1922 marks Netflix's second project based on King's work. Mike Flanagan is directing an adaptation of Gerald's Game, which stars Carla Gugino and currently is in production.

Hilditch helmed the apocalyptic thriller These Final Hours, which screened at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. He is repped by Paradigm and Thruline Entertainment.

Jane is a King veteran, having appeared in 2003's Dreamcatcher and 2007's The Mist. The actor, who starred on the TV series Hung and The Expanse, will next be seen in the film Hot Summer Nights with Maika Monroe. He is repped by Paradigm and Ziffren Brittenham.

Parker stars on Netflix’s series House of Cards as Jackie Sharp, and recently was seen in Ewan McGregor’s directorial debut American Pastoral. She is repped by CAA and Circle of Confusion.

Paradigm packaged and negotiated the deal with Netflix.

I like Molly Parker. I'm not sure what to think about reusing Thomas Jane.

I'm hoping this turns out more like 1408 than Bag of Bones.

Mike Patton has announced that he's working on a score for the Netflix adaptation of the King's 1922. Mike Patton, who is probably best known as the lead singer of Faith No More, recently spoke to Rolling Stone and casually mentioned that he has composed the score for 1922. Here's how the music legend described the impending soundtrack.

"It's more haunting and Hitchcock-y than you might think."

Netflix has announced an October 20th premiere date for “1922,” the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King’s novella which follows the events after a man kills his wife.
“These Final Hours” director Zak Hilditch penned and directed the film in which Thomas Jane and Molly Parker play the couple in question while Dylan Schmid, Kaitlyn Bernard, Brian D’Arcy James and Neal McDonough co-star.
The 131-page story is a confession told from the perspective of Wilfred James, an unreliable narrator who admits to killing his wife, Arlette, with his son in Nebraska. He buries her but soon finds himself terrorized by rats and becomes convinced his wife is haunting him.
The film comes sandwiched in-between David Fincher’s “Mindhunter” series the Friday before and the new season of “Stranger Things” a week later. Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of King’s novel “Gerald’s Game” is also due on the service this Fall.

Watched it today. How does this have an 82% RT score? It was mediocre AF.

It looks interesting.

It was ok. Solid performances and beautifully shot. It was messed up enough to keep one engaged.

It was a good little film. Simple story with a really good performance from Thomas Jane.

My review
Might be one of the best and greatest Stephen King novel adaptations thus far, which is crazy to say considering the It remake and Gerald's Game just came out. The director Zak Hilditch did a phenomenal job on directing and writing this. It's also by far the best performance Thomas Jane has given since The Mist. His role kinda reminds me of Lance Henriksen in Pumpkinhead. There's some great camera work here and the music and narration works extremely well. Overall, this is by far one of the best Netflix movies this year.
9.5/10
