I was watching that featurette about the Minutemen photo and near as I can tell that is not McHattie in the Nite Owl suit. Anyone have info?

Yeah. The handicap of being in his seventies might make it hard for him to play a twentysomething version of himself.

Well numerous places (including this site) have him listed as Hollis Mason/ Nite Owl. Hence my question.

Hell as I recall the DCDirect Solicitation for the Original Nite Owl figure lists McHattie

Stephen McHattie is 62, according to imdb. As far as I know, he's the only one playing Hollis in the movie.

According to the text in this pic that Kane52630 posted, Clint Carleton is playing Nite-Owl I.

So now a different guy is playing Hollis? I want Mchattie to be Hollis Mason. I just like the name so much. Stephen Mchattie. Stephen Mchattie.

Haha, I remember Stephen McHattie on that television mini-series 'Centennial'. Anyone else ever watch that? :yay:

But here's how (apparently) it breaks down: Clint is playing Nite-Owl I, during the Minutemen era. Stephen McHattie is playing Hollis Mason in his older years...after he hangs up the Nite-Owl costume.

He was in Shoot 'Em Up and the NBC Mini Series XIII as well.

I still want him to turn into Adam West.

He would be too reconizable. Plus, West played a parody of Batman and voice in Family Guy? When he appears on screen, I couldn't take that seriously.

Being recognizable is the point. He is Adam West, he is known for being a washed up former Batman.

If Snyder is going to pop culture, is going for familiarity, is going for making Watchmen a critique on Superhero movies, Adam West should of been the only man on his list.

I think him having played Batman (or even a 'parody' of him, might even make it more appropriate for Watchmen) would add special depth and meaning to the role, honestly. It's crazy how nice that would work, how much it would add to it..

However, the actor they went with looks like he fits the bill perfectly. He has that almost Paul Newman-y aura about him, you know? Maybe I'm crazy. :woot: I'm already a fan though.

Stephen McHattie has always seemed to me to be the Bizzaro Paul Newman. He resembles Paul Newman in spite of the fact he doesn't have his looks, his charm or his success.

I wanted West too, but the joke has already been played out a bit, both in B:TAS and....Family Guy I guess...No big deal.
