Bindi Irwin To Continue Career in Television

Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin's eight-year-old daughter Bindi Irwin will continue her father's legacy by taking over where his career left off. The animal lover is currently shooting Bindi, The Jungle Girl, a 26-part wildlife documentary show, that is set to debut in January 2007. Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray barb off the coast of Queensland, Australia in September while filming a segment for his daughter's new show. Bindi gave her first interview since her father's death to Australia's ABC network saying, "I'm trying to get across the message that don't be afraid of animals, they're just put on this earth to help the environment and everything like that." Her late father will appear with her in scenes filmed before his death. Steve's manager John Stainton explains, "We'll never refer to the fact that Steve is no longer with us. The way it works is that Steve plays co-star to Bindi. It's just the little reactions that she gives to her Dad, who's, you know, doing sort of silly stuff." Responding to critics who say Bindi is too young to be in the spotlight so soon after her father's death, Stainton says, "I think they don't understand that this little girl is very much enjoying what she's doing. She is in control."

aww... :'(

That girl makes my cold black heart weep.

Maybe this is insensitive of me, but I find it very funny that Steve's daughter is getting her own show so soon after her dad's death.

One would assume that his wife is using the publicity gained to push this thing into the limelight.

"I'm trying to get across the message that don't be afraid of animals."
This is why little kids should not be interviewed.

1) the skull-splitting grammar.
2) "Yeah. Don't be afraid of animals, unless they stab your Dad in the heart with poison and kill your Daddy forever."

You should always give animals a wide berth unless they're your pets.

Call me a sap but I don't believe that besides I heard they were plaining on giving the girl her own show before her dad died but ofcourse the cynical people on hype always believe the worse.

Thats what I heard. Though it was going to be father/daughter show I think.

No, that's not insensitive; I was sort of wondering the same thing. When Russell Crowe was interviewed about doing a biopic on the guy's life story, it was far too soon to think about such a thing, yet it's okay to generate some acknowledgement of a new project. . . using the daughter.

Eh, if every one is okay with it, that's great I guess.

Exactly. Irwin's never been more popular, so what a shock that his daughter gets a show right on the heels of his death.

Exactly, I think some people are making way too much of this but who gives a flip. I know what I believe.

Okay so the mother is evil and capitalizing on his death. I just don't see any proof that she didn't care about her husban and that she is a money grubby seawinch.

Id pay $30 just to hear him say Crikey for an hour and a half.

Why do you think that she doesn't care about her husband? Why would you come up with such a horrible thing to say?

Just because she's pushing this show out to capitalize on his death doesn't mean she doesn't care, GPI insensitive jerk. ;) :p

This show was going to get made anyways before Steve Irwin's untimely death so I don't see it as someway to capitalize on it.

You know what I really don't even care anymore, most people on hype are bastards anyway, so whatever.

Give it two years. Some major studio will definitely make sure that you have the chance.
