Store Charging $5 for "Just Looking"

Hah. This is stupid. I like to wander about and look in stores to see what they have, if any of them started demanding I pay $5 just for a peek I'd laugh at them. Then when they said they were serious I'd laugh harder.

"The five dollar fee will be deducted when goods are purchased"

Uh.... doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose.

If you have to go in there, just pick up something that $5 or less.

Thats crazy this would make me not want to shop there at all just out of principle.

Whoever pitched this idea deserves a nice, hard slap in the face.

Showrooming is a thing with a word for it and everything?

Hell, most of the time if I'm looking around a store, it's to kill time. If the store has something I want, I'll probably buy it there and not only see what I'm buying in person before purchasing it, but also get it right away, which are the two reasons I rarely shop online.

This is a dumb idea, but I'd kind of like to go to this place just to test this policy. Makes me wonder if they increased their "just looking" frequency because it's gone viral and people online like to be *****.

Thank you! Half the time I buy stuff I just mosey on into a store with NO idea what I want. I see something I like and pick it up.

How are you supposed to find out whether or not they have anything you want if you can't even browse without them trying to fine you for looking?

This is the most counterproductive customer turn-off idea ever. No one's gonna want to set foot in a store that does this.

Thats what the internet catalog is for! This is the 21st century No one goes into stores to look around! lol

What if you want to return something? Do they deduct $5 off your refund too?

They punch you in the face, take your purchase, then throw your money (hopefully change as well) down at you while your on the ground....then say "Have a nice day! :)"

I can see the logic behind this (its terrible logic). I mean I work retail and looking is one thing but people just don't look. They touch, the move around things, they make a mess. And in the end, usually don't buy anything. I'd love to see some stats on the ratio of people inside the store and the number of transactions. The stores have to pay people to clean up the mess made by people "just looking" and if they're not even buying anything, they're losing money. That being said, it's stupid and won't ever work.

Its a food store. I don't think alot of people just look at food without buying any.

I always look at all the Hot Pockets...but never buy them.

whaaaat you don't loiter in the produce section on days when there is nothing else to do? :o

Few things as exciting as being surrounded by a full aisle of fruits and veggies.

Pretty much nothing I assume.......which makes this ridiculous. If they try and take any action to prevent you from coming in I'm sure they could be sued in some way or another
