Study says foreign accents make speakers seem less truthful

An accent doesn't make someone any less truthful.

Case in point: Simon Cowell.

pointless study, obviously hearing something that sounds different than how you're used to hearing it will make it seem less trustworthy. pretty basic.

Isn't that kind of common sense? You naturally trust what you've lived around, so if someone who you're already suspicious of comes in and on top of that has a foreign accent, well duh, they'll seem less truthful.

It depends on the accent. Certain accents have certain connotations attached to them, that may or may not be true based on the speaker.
