Super VILLAIN films you want to see

Not sure you can say he is a villain at all. He may have started out looking like one but.....I think Namor could fit this bill. Somehow showing his loathing for humans as they destroy Atlantis & the ocean. may be a different angle to take with a film.

What about a Kingpin movie? It can be a crime drama film directed by Micheal Mann about the rise of Kingpin before Spiderman fought crime. He could get in a war in the film against Hammerhead and his crime syndicate for NYC.

That's what I said! :D A Kingpin film would be great for Marvel Studios since he's a character who has come into conflict with more than one 'hero' in the comics - namely Daredevil and Spiderman. And with plans for successive reboots on the latter two, Kingpin will really fit the bill (pun not intended).

Namor is great, but he's still a hero! Albeit a misunderstood one. I'm hoping for more Golden-Age style films after The First Avenger, one can hope right?

Any thoughts on a Sinestro Corps series?

How about the Thunderbolts? Heroes revealed as the villains "The Masters of Evil"? That would be a good twist at the end (or maybe middle) of the movie. It could be billed as your standard Superhero movie, and audiences would go in expecting that, but halfway through it has that twist. It could even lead into an Avengers movie where the team battle the Masters of Evil.

I got it...

It has to be a villain everyone knows...

They can go from good to evil and back again...

Let's make it a female to add sex appeal so guys will probably see it regardless.

The batman universe has always been successful...

CATWOMAN!!!

on a more serious note, I could see a lot of villains working, done much like Star Wars Revenge of the Sith with the whole premise of them going bad, and teaching us to hate them for it. Could make for some epic story telling, just needs to be done with the right villain, my suggestion would be for DC - the android thing from JLU that could copy peoples powers.

and Marvel - Magneto.

I'd say a Vandal Savage movie could work.

Eh... I would be dying for a Catwoman film, only they tried that and ruined it. Thank you Ms. Berry! As for that JLU thing - that's Amazo!

I still think that a New Gods film centered around Darkseid is the best bet. There's also that old Ultra-Humanite character, but he'll probably be judged as too outlandish for a Hollywood film. Felix Faust and Morgan leFey can also be translated into the big screen, probably in a conflict with Etrigan or someone of equal stature. From the same genre we see Black Adam - a turn DC's been edging for since 52 Weeks.

I hate that, by the way. Alien planets with floating mountains where cat-smurfs live with their USB port ponytails and chemical mixtures that can allow groups of people to go into someone's subconscious mind in multiple levels aren't too outlandish, but a genius supercriminal in a gorilla body is just too ridiculous.

A proper Deathstroke film would kick copious boo-tay, but a lot of the potential shine is going to come off of that if a decent Deadpool movie gets made.

I couldnt agree with you more. Deadpool is more a favorite between the 2 cuz of his wise ass comments & in Marvel but, I always thought Deathstroke is far superior subject to make a film about.

Sorry, but I didn't like AVATAR either :oldrazz:

But y'know what'd really kill all the negativity in Hollywood for fantastical franchises? A Solomon Grundy film. Think about it. With that nursery rhyme, it'd border on both the absurd and the surreal. A film focusing on the zombie instead of trying to kill it off. I mean, all the protesters at the Zombie Marches will probably finally be satiated, and we'll know exactly what these (seemingly) brain-dead Haitian creatures were moaning about for all these years: a good representative.

Was that too racist? I only meant that the zombie myth has origins in Haitian voo doo! In fact, if you're interested, check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie#Zombies_in_Voodoo

I think that'd be both an interesting Super Villain AND Horror film.

Calypso (from Spider-Man)...

What about Morbius? Kind of a tortured soul. Misunderstood & shunned by society. Could be interesting if done right.

Hmm... that could be tackled. The buzz was big on Morbius being in Spiderman 4 a few years ago, so you do have the fan-base. If done right, it could be reminiscent of Day Breakers (in terms of mood and tone). And the Vampire is in vogue (too much for my taste) these days. But like you said - if done right!

Rise and Fall of ZOD.

Set against a (quote David Goyer) "Big Kryptonian mythology" with Jor-El? Might work - end with his banishment into the Phantom Zone, and a vague mention of The Last Son! Makes for a much better Graphic Novel in my opinion. SMALLVILLE went to an exhaustive extent with their ZOD saga. Still, would make an interesting premise.

On a much similar note; http://www.cracked.com/article_18733_6-movies-that-didnt-realize-they-let-villain-win.html

For...well... the fact that villains do get away with their villainy, even in moralist Hollywood!

I don't think Goyer ever said that. In fact, I don't think he has been quoted about the new Superman movie at all. That quote came from one of Latino Review's inside sources.

Though I don't always prefer using wikipedia as a reference, this time it fits the bill. Check it out for yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_of_Steel_(film)#The_Man_of_Steel I must have made a mistake... it wasn't David S. Goyer, but Chris Nolan himself who's reportedly talking about setting up huge Kryptonian mythology. And the Nolan interview wasn't from Latino Review at all.
