Just thought I'd start a new thread since we have an official excerpt now - from the publisher's site. Now that I've read the excerpt, not buying and reading the novel before the movie comes out is going to be difficult.

Possible clues (discovered by other members): 5% scientific data missing & Lara specific thought of Kal-El's child.

Doubtful. That opening basically repeats the opening of STM. It'll be one of those scenes used to flesh out the novel that you always end up wishing was in the movie. Such as the QGJ scenes in ROTS.

of course, it would be nice if we got some of that Krypton stuff in flashback scenes.

The writers did say the vague history of Superman will be summed up in a unique way in the first 20 minutes of the film.

I liked history of the "S" shield. And I didn't realize that Lara had such a spitfire personality. I personally love it!

I thought it was interesting that we got so much Kryptonian history. I guess it's probably just filler-type stuff than fans love to get in novelizations and never turns up in the movie. But it really did make the place seem more real.

I agree and it wasn't just that. It was nice to really get to know Jor-El and Lara. To read their scenes interspersed with Donner's film really just... there are no words. I can hear Marlon Brando in my head.

It'd be great if we got to see some flashbacks. Missing 5% of scientific data is a LOT of data. I don't even want to imagine how much information the crystal can hold, so I'm assuming this will play a part in the new movie. Knowledge is power, and if Kal-el is missing information that could help him, it could be disastrous.

I think the reason it goes over how carefully Jor-El and Lara cultivated the crystals is a bit of foreshadowing for when Lex tries to do it. My guess is that even though he's supposed to be "the greatest criminal mind of our time", compared to Kryptonian methods, he essentially half-asses the creation of his continent.

And the missing 5% could contribute to Lex having inadequate information or possibly to Clark thinking the trip will take less time than it really takes.

  22. I think its a good idea..that it would take less that he thinks..but remember he grew in the ship..

I know he'd age. And frankly, I'm not sure the idea of him thinking less time would pass really makes sense, given his list of possible motivations for Supes' not telling Lois. I mean, what's the big deal if it's just a few weeks? One of those things we'll just have to wait and see about, I guess.

  25. or it could be a massive plot hole..as you said we will have to wait..but we all know it will be explained

"lets start with the big question..where did you go? "
