Superman Returns Struck by Consumer Kryptonite
EA forced to rely on Madden for holiday sales.
by Hilary Goldstein

December 5, 2006 - A Bank of America analyst, speaking with forbes.comhttp://www.forbes.com/personaltech/...s-retail-cx_mk_1204markets06.html?partner=rss, revealed that early sales of EA's Superman Returns "have been disappointing." Analyst Michael Savner went on to state that "there is even more pressure on sales of Madden NFL 07 and FIFA 07 to deliver strong results in order to meet its third-quarter 2007 revenue guidance." Savner expects Madden and FIFA to earn $242 million for this quarter.

The new of lower-than-expected sales of Superman Returns has yet to negatively affect EA's stock. Shares were up 1.9% for the largest third-party publisher at the end of early trading.

SR has failed in every way so far. Its really disappointing. :csad:

Can't fault SR there, every SUPERMAN game ever released were bad!

EA made a crappy game...

...that's why no one is buying it. the only good thing about it is the ability to fly around a huge area at ridiculous speeds.

i wonder if sales will pick up for xmas.... u got to think parents will still buy Superman stuff for their kids.

the game was quite boring after I beat it in 4 hours...

Who cares? It's a video game...

Maybe those of us who care about video games? :whatever:

And those of us that were disappointed in such a lackluster game??

Seriously, man. It isn't that hard.

I think peoples expectations for Superman games have always been way too high. The game is fun to play and you really feel like Superman. I don't what people expected of this game.

Um it's a game that has very little to do with Superman Returns.

Seriously, people are just....meh.

And yes, the game was ridiculously easy and somewhat boring.

Damn, does the disappointing numbers ever stop..?

Are you all sure that Singer is signed to the sequel?

I'm yet to play it.

Still wondering which console to get  ...It's the whole Beta vs VHS all over again.

Indeed they do. Superman Returns reportedly made 13mil in its first week from dvd rentals alone.

I played the game and thought it was fun, but empty. Tiburon has a great concept on their hands with the game, but it just feels like they spent all the time designing the basics for the game and then threw in some story and levels just for fun or something. However, I'm a sucker for anything Superman (most times), so I was content with just being able to fly through giant boulders and stuff while my Superman soundtrack blasted in the background.
