I didn't really know where to put this or if there is already a thread, but if they make a Superman sequel should they have him fight Doomsday or even change from the same cookie-cutter plot with Lex Luthor, they have used in previous films?

AND if so do you think the fight would be better than Hulk vs. Abomination in TIH 08? OR would it be too similar, and overdone since TIH beat Superman to the PUNCH by introducing a mutated creation first with formidable strength.

What do you guys think?

Try Super-World or Superman: Man of Steel (Spoilers). BTW, The Nuclear Man was a mutated creation with formidable strength in Superman IV. I don't think very many people want to see Superman pass out and get revived again, but they could create or introduce a villain that is as formidable as Superman and have a fight for the ages, if they could choreograph a good flying fight scene.

I'll check those out.

Yeah I remember the Superman movie with the sun dude, they gave him the weakness of needing direct sunlight to function. which was stupid IMO.

The Matrix fight scene was good in Revolution.

Was the sun guy in 3 or 4? Not including Returns.

He was in 4 like I said in my post. The Matrix fight was very good, although I don't necessarily want to see superman using martial arts in a fight.

I don't think Martial arts is necessary, in fact, I think the Supe vs DD fight would be better because at the very least Superman would be an actual actor in a suit, which, to me, makes the CGI less forced and fakey.

I actually didn't like the flying fight scene very much from Matrix... I think it could have been improved.

Pfft Superman vs Doomsday would be Epic if done right a full out battle destroying half the city damn it would leave the Hulk fight in the dust cause 08 Hulk doesnt compare to the strentgh of SR superman

^Dude SR superman was nearly on Pre-Crisis level strength. He could beat the **** out of anything easily. HULK wouldn't stand a chance if he got the angriest he could get. Oh yeah and if you guys are itching for a Superman Vs Doomsday in live action, guess who's Smallville's new villain in the next season??? :hehe:

Can't wait to see that episode.....

So you guys don't think that it would be too close to the plot of the Hulk, just in DC form?

I don't want it to be to repetitive.

I'd like to see Superman fight Parasite or Metallo, so we can see him go up against foes who can actually give him trouble in a fight in a future film.

Regardless of who it was, I'd think it would be more interesting than the Hulk VS Abomination fight, simply because Superman has other powers than just strength so it could get more interesting (plus, high chance of his foe having more than just super strength to make it even more interesting).

The fight in TIH was great mind you, but it was just savagely bashing back and forth. It was like seeing two superpowered little kids throwing a fit with each other.

Well, Hulk has more than super-strength; he has regenerative ability, invincibility (that's why he wasn't affected by bullets), and durability, not to mention that his abilities increased as he gets angrier.

My point is though, those things don't bring anything to the fight. If Superman were to fight Parasite or Metallo, we could see him utilizing his superspeed, superbreath, and heatvision in battle. That is where it would be more interesting. It allows for a different fight, rather just who can smack around who more before they win.

Superman, while a decent fighter, is more of brawler in combat like Hulk.

If you want to see a high end super-powered martial artist fight in a movie Wonder Woman's where you'll find it.

I'd love to see Superman use his abilities like that in a big budget movie with a worthy adversary who can take it.

Lex Luthor need a break.

I'm well aware of that. But the point I've been making the entire time? Is that Superman has other abilities to show in combat to make the fight seem less like a bunch of savages slapping each other around. If the people in the movies would understand this, and finally show the audience some of his physically powerful villains, and show this? It would be epic.

I agree.

I am surprised the Filmmakers and studios haven't picked up on this yet. That is what Returns should have been like....but I guess WE had to give one more homage to a Lex Luthor rivalry. Hopefully, that is minimized for future hims from now on.

Superman would have to use a variety and combination of his powers IMO. He really isn't a fighter. Superman Can't Fight. Without his Super Powers he sucks...and if you gave someone else his powers to make them even (let's say Batman) it would not even be a contest....wouldn't last half a boxing round.

Superman has never been a "Fighter" in my mind. He hasn't had to be cause of his powers. I agree and think that a Wonder Woman movie could be one of the best Comic movies to be made, if done right, because she has powers almost to par with Supes and she is a trained (all her life) fighter/warrior.

The only thing I disagree with you about is that Superman can't fight well. He has some skill. He's not Batman but he's not completely helpless if he doesn't have his powers.

This is a fact the movies tend to downplay even more then the comics. When he's Superman it seems like he knows some strategy in combat but every time he loses his powers all that knowledge seems to not exist. In SR he definitely should have put up more of a fight against the henchmen, not act like he's never thrown a punch in his life.

Isn't there already a Superman vs. Doomsday DVD? What would even be in the point of making that live-action? Doomsday doesn't even have a great background history. At least when Toriyama wrote Cell, he already established he had a past with the Red Ribbon army. DC went that angle years later with their ancient Kryptonian Frankenstein.

It doesn't matter that he's fought Doomsday in that animated movie. They fought in JLU, too.

Lex has fights with Superman regularly but WB can't seem to stop themselves for pitting the two against each other in the movies. Despite the fact he's already appeared in 2 live action movies before SR.

But now we want Superman to follow the Hulk in a no-holds bar fight against a villain with even less character development than the Abomination? Isn't he better than that? What happened to Darkseid, Metallo or even Bizarro? Even Gen. Zod is a worthy threat.

They have 2 Ultimate Avengers Movies and an Iron Man movie, animated, too, but that hasn't stopped them from making the 08 films and the upcoming ones.

And the Cell Red Ribbon connection is a cop out. It's what filmmakers traditionally do for trilogies in movie series. [Quoting, Jamey Kennedy from Scream 3, "Trilogies always go back to the first to explain what happen. They do back stories and references to the 1 movie, to tie up all loose ends."]
It is easy to say that Doctor [hatever his name is] survives Goku's attack on the Red Ribbon Army and creates the androids to come back years later.

Heck they can say while superman was in space, the government collected samples of his blood from the fight with Zod and the other kryptonians. And created a clone albeit "An Abomination".

SR refers to Superman Returns? or not? His fighting strategies are based off his strength and speed, not off the enemies weaknesses really. Only does he use his mind to fight after he has been outmatched physically. For example when he acted like he was human in Superman 2 (i think), to trick Zod and the pions. That was genius in my mind.

Darkseid would be my first pick for Supes to fight, then metallo 2nd, then bizarro or solomon grundy. But if he fights Darkseid who will JLU fight?

I think a Supes vs. Doomsday fight could be more impressive, given their abilities than the Hulk vs. Abom, if we get a director and producer with some imagination (comic advisors and spielberg and bruckheimer), but it may be too repetitive of a scenario.

It all comes down to the story. Any villain can be made interesting written properly.

There is also the fact that some villains serve different purposes then others. Abomination were merely a minion it was general Ross who was the main "big bad" in the movie.

That said it would have been easy for the movie establish Emil Blonski with more background into his character. Maybe they'll give him more to do in a sequel.

Not that all minion type thugs can't be interesting. It would be simple to make Bizarro, Parasite or Metallo three dimensional characters in film.

What happened to Darkseid, Metallo or even Bizarro? Even Gen. Zod is a worthy threat.

Agreed.

I remember somebody talked about a Superman V: Journey to Freedom. I don't know what that was about, but I remember there was a comic storyline where Superman was lost in time. That idea speaks epic right there. For all his power, he's constantly lost in time and space, fighting for freedom.

We can have a story where a villain propels Superman back in time. He finds himself fighting to free slaves in the old South. Then then goes forward and helps free prisoners from the Nazi concentration camps. When he arrives in the present, he's then imprisoned in the Negative Zone. In order to free himself, he must face the choice of whether to help free a prisoner of the Negative Zone.

Are you being serious or being sarcastic??? If you are being sarcastic then you are the best person at sarcasm alive......because I really think you are serious right now about the Time thing....and that is really really sad and more so scary that you think it would be a good movie.

First off. US black folks freed ourselves (with some white help) and we don't need no stinking Superman to help (I'm saying this with humor, not serious or mad so don't take it that way please).

Second, that would be the dumbest movie. I can see him being sent to the future maybe and battling some pretty strong opponents and other aliens or being in the middle of a Future WW3 or even better Galactic War. Now that would be dope. Having Superman fighting in different planets, super alien life forms, on a spaceship, in a space suit. Think Superman meets Chronicles of Riddick or Serenity! DOPE DOPE DOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or there was this episode of JL where everyone died and he went to the future and him and some immortal dude where the only ones amongst some nuclear insects and creatures. He didn't have his powers, but got them back because the Son was blocked by the nuclear radiation for a long time. NOW that would make for a dope movie, too.

But if you are kidding please please tell me. I can't believe that.

I didn't say he was the greatest savior of slaves. I meant he would lost in time and find himself battling for different causes for freedom. Are you saying he should never get involved if he sees oppression and slavery, even in important times in history? Superman will save anybody he can regardless of skin color. That's who he is, and people will still thank him for it!

Superman meets Riddick or Serenity? Throw him into deep space, but not that outer space. Green Lanterns are the guys best suited for DC's space adventures. No dopey Conan ripoff for the Man of Steel. And you can forget having in set in a world like Terminator. That's clearly a desperate idea. Being super is just who he is. Facing the World's problems are his greatest challenges.
