Superman vs. Doomsday would it be better than Hulk vs. Abomination?

I didn't say he was the greatest savior of slaves. I meant he would lost in time and find himself battling for different causes for freedom. Are you saying he should never get involved if he sees oppression and slavery, even in important times in history? Superman will save anybody he can regardless of skin color. That's who he is, and people will still thank him for it!

Superman meets Riddick or Serenity? Throw him into deep space, but not that outer space. Green Lanterns are the guys best suited for DC's space adventures. No dopey Conan ripoff for the Man of Steel. And you can forget having in set in a world like Terminator. That's clearly a desperate idea. Being super is just who he is. Facing the World's problems are his greatest challenges.

It's not that I don't want him to free slaves if he is in that time period. I just DON'T want him in that time period. I don't want to see him go after hitler, beat up slave owners in the south, make a visit to pearl harbor, step in at vietnam......THAT WOULD BE A STUPID MOVIE. It might have worked back in the 70s or 60s, but not now.

Yeah, space adventure is more a Green Lantern thing. I Definitely Agree, but if you make a movie, where Superman has to go off world to help other alien life forms, humanoid or not, that would be cool and we could have very plausible reasons why there would be some formidable foes without having to create them, clone them, grow them, or build them. SINCE NO ONE on Earth is as strong as SUPERMAN according to DC....let's take his fights and A$$ elsewhere and see how he does. But a guerilla style Superman movie would be dope if you think about it if it had space ships and fighter ships like that in Chronicles of Riddick and Serenity.

Imagine both of those movies....now add Superman in them as a lead character....and make the bad guys 10 times stronger than they were. Good movie!

I wouldn't want to see Doomsday as the main villain. I'd rather have a superstrong Brainiac or Darkseid as the villain.
If the villain had superpowers plus intelligence, that would equal a grander struggle..

I am surprised the Filmmakers and studios haven't picked up on this yet. That is what Returns should have been like....but I guess WE had to give one more homage to a Lex Luthor rivalry. Hopefully, that is minimized for future hims from now on.

Don't worry, I am sure they have.

... Superman would have to use a variety and combination of his powers IMO. He really isn't a fighter. Superman Can't Fight. Without his Super Powers he sucks...and if you gave someone else his powers to make them even (let's say Batman) it would not even be a contest....wouldn't last half a boxing round...

If you think about it, Spider-man would suck without his powers, and the same thing would go for the Hulk. What are you trying to say here? More on the fighting thing in my next comment.

... Superman has never been a "Fighter" in my mind. He hasn't had to be cause of his powers. I agree and think that a Wonder Woman movie could be one of the best Comic movies to be made, if done right, because she has powers almost to par with Supes and she is a trained (all her life) fighter/warrior.

Superman (and his writers) would want you (the reader) to think of him more as a hero and not as a fighter. Fighting is secondary, but he can do it if he needs to. You should keep in mind or at least be aware that throughout his 70 year history, Superman has fought off armies across the galaxy and has defeated some of the most powerful beings in the (DC) universe. The man has fought both gods and demons. Monsters and machines. What more do you need him to do to prove in your mind that he can fight? It may seem subtle at times but he can.

I doubt that they will else you wouldn't be seeing him make an appearance in Smallville since I'm pretty sure that the director wouldn't want comparisons between his version and the TV version.

It'll get compared to other incarnations no matter what Smallville does.

The only way around it is to call him something else and not have him look like Doomsday in any recognizable fashion.

^I think people in this thread want Superman to be more like Mother Theresa.

I agree. If only he actually did interesting stuff like that more in his films. :(

Agreed....Yeah, in the comics he has had all these battles and has won, but Writers have to do that, to keep the series alive and not be too redundant with the comic stories.

Being a "hero" only saving kittens from trees, fighting fires, stopping armies by talking, saving sinking ships, and foiling crooks, thieves, and bank robbers is good for the comics (old ones), but doesn't carry a movie and translate well on screen. It's good for showing everyday heroics, but who thehell wants to to see a 2 hour movie of that crappy stuff.

Film makers make Superman for common movie goers who like to think of Superman as the All-American boy scout for teaching their kids truth, justice and the American way. But D*man that doesn't mean that the movie can't be an action adventure. Throw in some explosions, some serious fighting, some pain, SOME MAN JUICE!!! for crying out loud.

Make the movie for comic fans, the ones who would rather see a Super hero than a boyscout, and I guaranty that movie goers will love it.
Look at Iron Man, it has been revered as one of the best films of 08, so far, and arguably the best Marvel film ever made. Heck, forget being nice IT IS!

Superman needs cowbell, gotta have more cowbell.

All super heroes would suck without their powers, except Batman, I know that. But what I am saying is, in the SpiMan movies he does some serious fighting, which honestly doesn't make sense because it doesn't take super-strength and super-speed to know how to throw a punch, kick, or do a counter move, but for some reasons when people loose their physical powers they loose their skills. Dumb IMO.

But I see where you are coming from.

I think a Superman/Doomsday fight could easily be better than the Hulk/Abomination fight. Superman has more visually interesting powers from which to draw.

It would have to last longer than 10 minutes. It might also be cost prohibitive.

I think so cause Hulk cgi sucked! Except superman 4, I think people have enough of seeing superman battling against some dude on the street. They want a real challenge, someone who can beat the hell out of Superman. Now if they do it the same way as Superman Doomsday cartoon then Yes! I think it's gonna be better than Hulk vs Abomination.

The fight would be more badass because each has more abilities which could make the fight have more of a 'Wow" factor.

(^Dude SR superman was nearly on Pre-Crisis level strength. He could beat the **** out of anything easily. HULK wouldn't stand a chance if he got the angriest he could get. Oh yeah and if you guys are itching for a Superman Vs Doomsday in live action, guess who's Smallville's new villain in the next season??? :hehe:)

Actually superman has a set limit of strength, the hulk has no limit technically he has the potential to be the most powerful being in the universe. the only way superman would beable to kill the hulk is if he was still banner before transformin:bh:

Actually We don't know what Superman's limit is because he is always holding back. This potential to be the most powerful being thing is all supposition without any hard facts behind it. What we do know it that Superman has moved planets, something that the Hulk could never do, and he is respected by gods. That would mean that if he were to get into a fight with an opponent, that person/thing would have to be very powerful to make it a good fight. Also it would be an injustice if such a fight were not choreographed well enough to exploit those points.

Comics book movies seem to get better and better due to the increase in CGI and filming techniques, so logically it will be a superior fight scene.

However, things can go wrong, it has happened. With so many potential dumb people in power it would be hard not to.

The only thing worse than two fake looking CGI characters fighting(TIH) is a real person versus CGI character(Mummy II)

Don't knock today's CGI. It's pretty good now. Here's what a Superman CGI fight scene could look like:

Yes, Superman would more than likely be reluctant to fight so something like this could happen. He said something like this in his first fight with Superboy Prime.

This fight scene from "The Curse of the Golden Flower" supposedly used CGI:

TIH CGI looked good and the fight scene was good. The only thing I hate is when they shoot fight scenes too close, to try and give the audience that feeling like they are right there in the action, and do not pull away enough. You can't see anything when they do this for the entire fight. That is my only problem. Pull the F*** away and show the guys fighting.

In the next Superman movie they need to make him buff. I am tired of a skinny Superman. Give him some muscles and some fighting skills and show him going at it.
