Superman's power level

I certainly dont want an All star Superman powerlevel that pissed me off whilst i was reading the book.I prefer anything from new 52 level to fleschier level

I think Snyder will have him somewhere near Pre Crisis Superman. He might tone down some of his lesser user powers but I think he will be pretty powerful.

No.just no.No silver age.Good God no Silver age.

Why? I could see why you might dislike it for a Superman film, but it worked perfectly in the book.

The problem with it was it made Superman seem damn too Godlike-added with the fact he was morally perfect.I like Superman not Godman.I was able to look past this off course and enjoy the story but I just never saw the hype with it.I would never give this book to someone who says Superman is overpowered and too perfect becuse this book does othing to change their mind

Once I read that Kal-El was literally controlling his breathing because it can kill those around him. Thats what I loved about Superman all that time...even that most of DC writers try to make him look dumb, big iconic muscle...He actually carries a very deep burden inside and cares a lot about world.

Im in for any godly level of power. Of course only in climax final combat against Zod. Maybe in outer space where their true powers can hurt no one else.

I think the problem in dealing with Superman being too powerful is that most writers are stupid, don't understand Superman and can't deal with the psychological elements and problems that will come with this issue, just the action/physical things.

There is a pretty simple solution to those continuing to cry about Supes extreme power: Have him battle someone just as powerful.

Problem solved. Toning Superman down is a cheap cop-out.

The solution is imagine yourself if you had all these amazing problems. What kind of obstacles and challenges would you face?

It's not about a physical battle. That obviously is part of the puzzle too as comic books and Superman is himself is about the spectacle and fun times but the REAL problem is more of the environment, how people deal with this, what kind of choices you have to make, etc. How can you save somebody who is falling while still obeying the laws of physics?

As someone who frequents comic forums often, I always find it amusing how people can state how awesome and powerful people like Sentry and Thor are yet when it comes to Supes. "Oh no don't make him to powerful DC needs to tone that down".

Comic forums like CBR *********e to the Sentry and Silver Surfer. Yet these same fans will whine that Superman is too strong. Yet they love Gary Stu's like the Sentry.

Standing face-to-face like gunslingers. And then they both blast away with heat vision and walk slowly toward one another, with the energy at the center growing more unstable and intense the closer they get.

You're not tired of seeing that in every other sci-fi or fantasy movie? LOTR, Star Wars, etc? I suppose they are so powerful that as they get closer an explosion sends them both flying backwards, too?

Meh, it just doesn't interest me. Give him superpowers, obviously, but create some logical limits. A lot of shows have a "Bible" that sort of establishes the limits, and I think they need to do this right away with the new Superman. Write out exactly what his levels are so that future movies consistently show it.

To the contrary, largely we hate the Sentry, and cheered when he died.

The rest comes down to usage: if you give a character cosmic power, have him do cosmic adventures. Superman's periodic problem is he's given the power of a cosmic god, and then spends the majority of his time. . . dealing with super-street crime in Metropolis.

Hell, not just movies, but plenty of American and Japanese animated shows as well.

Able to circle the Earth in 10seconds would be a good limit for his flight speed.

A lot of the great super man stories do seem to revolve around him being god like however. His powers are almost a curse in a way that he has so much burden to do everything he can to save the planet, however is it is responsibility to try to save everyone at every time? So those are sort of god like questions.

No.With the exception of All star,I have hated every Godman story. I mean great Superman stories like
Superman birthright
Superman Worlds at war
Superman up up and away
Superman and Man of steel

dont feature a Godlike man. They feature a SUPERman.
Superman should be an Alien Hercules/Samson not an Alien God

I hate Sentry to its core. Pardon me the fans but I got enough of those identity crisis storyline of Marvel. It was cute with Spiderman and people loved it but goddamn, I am not eating that thing anymore in freaking 2012.

Got enough of that shi* with The Thing, Spiderman, Ghost Rider, Hulk, Nightcrawler, Blade, Xavier, Spiderman...

Well, going from the SDCC, after Superman is thrown into the bank safe, US soldiers are then seen surrounding him. I assume it might have been a missile or something that knocked him into it. Rather than Zod. So, if he's strong enough to survive a large explosion, for a missile or tank, but still get a bit winded by it, I'm cool with that. Seems like a good middle ground, IMO.

Not necessarily. I challenge you to propose your own superpower-displaying scenario. I look forward to reading it.

Same here.

You don't think professional writers could come up with something a bit more original than just standing there shooting a beam of energy at each other? I would like to see something with a bit more strategy to it, or real, genuine struggle.

OK. Like what? I'm curious what ideas you have. This isn't a confrontation.
