I wouldn't really call her a love interest though. Just someone for Sam to bang. Being with Ruby definitely changed Sam and that episode showed.

It's a general thing, anyone Sam has sex with usually ends up dead. It's like pie, anytime it's shown or referenced, it usually means something bad will happen. Of course there are the odd exceptions to these rules.

Apparently Edlund is going to have his own panel at SDCC, in addition to being a panelist for Supernatural's presentation.
