I had thought Sylar escaped there too
But in the comics I found that I was reading it shows others coming in and shooting him with tranquilizers
So is he still in captivity then?

he would have escaped, but the haitian and mr bennet came on time to get him

He's still in captivity. That comic (graphic novel) is a continuation of the story.

yes, the preview included him on the ground while Bennet says something to effect of "I don't want him to remember anything about Claire"
