Syn's Scratch Pad

It's not entirely comic related. but I had to draw an image in the style of earth fire wind and water for my illustration class. Allowed to use any medium. I of course chose photoshop, because i'm much more comfortable with it than paint. Check out the results:

C&C welcomed and appreciated.

All done building up textures and airbrushing. :D

Not exactly comic related. Had to draw a self portrait for my illustration class. Any medium. Any style. Decided to go for a comic image, halftone thing. i kinda like it.

Enjoy:

It seems like this thread has turned into "What i've done lately at school" as opposed to my fanart. so lets get this puppy back on track a bit.

Love the line work

Thanks KAD!

Intermission for the moment. I'm playing around stylistically.
Here's a quick doodle. Inspired by cheeks, iambilly81, SOB, etc :D

I'm going to hopefully pump out some more completed works soon.
thanks for looking.

The extra lines you have around her ankle make it look rather awkward. I would get rid of them and just use the colouring to show the form.

That head position is a tough one to do- but I think you've done a really good job :)

She could probably do with a hint of the other arm, even if it is just her hand. 3 limb poses always look a little weird to me.

Nice

Sync very different from your usual

Aaah, I love a good sky-ballet.

Heh, great work Sync.

Oh wow, i've done something to catch the attention of the great cybermonkeytron. sweet. heh. I do love your work so i really appreciate your critique.

The linework there is basically for my own guides when it comes to coloring. the lines are tweaked as i work on it.

As for her right arm, i'll see what I can do. In a way i'd rather it look slightly awkward, than look forced. :)

Thanks again for looking.

Ironically enough, I think this is the closest thing to "my usual" that i've been able to do in quite awhile. if anyone can remember my supergirl picture (erm that i never quite finished) the linework was stylistically similar. I'm glad you're digging it though.

I think i'm finally starting to hit a groove where i'm comfortable in my own voice and trying less to mimic people. hopefully it'll make for more complete pieces.

if you love a good sky-ballet, then you'd love a space-ballet.

Maybe my next piece will be galactus in the same pose. :D

Thanks a bunch for the feedback everyone.

just loving the rogue piece. She seems really happy and free. Amazing.

Hey guys. I know it's been awhile.
Here's an update on my Rogue piece. Haven't had time to finish it. Hope you guys are at least enjoying the progress.

I've currently got a 5 week final assignment for my college program. Think of it like a thesis. I've essentially gotta choose an art form and do it. implementing all the things i've learned. and stepping up my game. So i'm going to be creating a comic. I've come up with my idea. and am currently working on character designs. as i finish things, i'll be posting for some feedback. If anyone knows comics, it's this place.

Until next time,
Rock on guys.

hey syn

great to see something newish from you. i really like the feel of the rogue piece, i'm just not 100% sold on the anatomy... i mean, it's obviously a REALLY tricky pose, lots of weird angles and foreshortenings... to the extent that you might be absolutely right and a person might look exactly like that in that position, but it just looks a teensy bit off to me. hmmm... trying to put my finger on what it is... maybe it's just she looks a little flat-chested...

anyway, as always your tones sing and don't let me put you off, can't wait to see it finished. still waiting on that blade, too!

in the meantime, i guess you have this final assignment to concentrate on. sounds great, man, all the very best of luck! can't wait to see what you come up with. go for it, dude!
