well, shove it. Bullcrap. GA would NEVER use a compund bow. Longbow all the way. MAYBE a recurve. But Queen HATES compound bows and would never in a billion years use one. hell, he makes fun of Roy for using them.

Anyhoo, what were those last few lines he said before shooting the planet? and what country did he shoot?

That's impressive as hell. Damn. Cool guy. He's just a cool guy. I liked the actor's portrayl. OQ is an ******* so he did it well.

I certainly dont know one bow from the other, but maybe that's why they've given him the Compound Bow, because in the Comics he hates them.

Smallville loves to do stuff like that. :yay:

Plus it is probably easier for the actor to use it. Seriously, why do people have to gripe about minutea like this? :whatever:

OMG!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT OLIVER QUEEN DON'T HAVE NO GOATEE!!! I MEAN C'MON, WHAT'S THE DEAL!!! OMG!!!! :wow: :whatever: :cwink:

I just think the compond bow looks ugly, and the long bow would look better on t.v.

I'm still not a fan of Oliver using a compund bow either, considering, not only does he hate it in the comics and makes funny of speedy for using it . But with a High-tec compund bow like that . It's hard to believe he's actully the one shooting the arrow. Oliver is known in The JLA as The Best Archer .

compound bows just add distance, not accuracy. You still have to pretty damn skilled to pick a spot on a globe 3 blocks away and hit it.

Actually, SV's portrayal of Oliver Queen is VERY close to the original Golden Age comics.

Initially Ollie was rich and clean-shaven, as he is here. He was later stripped of his company and his riches and given that badass goatee to make him the opposite of conservative Leaguers Hawkman and Hal Jordan, but it's still part of the character's history that initially he was rich and goatee-less. So those particular fanboys can shove it.

So far, I can't really say I'm too hot about Hartley's performance as Queen. Hopefully that'll change in future episodes, but I just didn't like his scene with Lionel in Sneeze.

Its all about how much change you can take. . . .

I don't know what makes it so hard to see that these are different universes. Oliver Queen appears monthly in a little comic called "Green Arrow." He hates compound boys. He is not in Smallville trying to start a League, and never has.

So this guy who *is* in Smallville trying to start a league must be a *different* person. What's different about him? Oh, well, he's a young guy, first of all... he's clean shaven, and oh! He uses compound bows.

Different character. If you can't deal with that, you should avoid Smallville at all costs.

Using a compound bow doesn't bother me all that much, sure it'd be great if he had the classic longbow, but the compound adds authenticity to the long shots we will probably be seeing.

I'm just glad they took out the shot of him adjusting the peep sight that was on the DC video on the CW site. You don't adjust that, it's just something you look through.

Green Arrow is one of those characters were a few minor changes shouldn't really matter.

I'm fine with the compound bow...what pisses me off is they took the liberal, anarchist Oliver Queen and made him into a snotty, prep-school bully, who kidnaps people to get information from them and acts like a total jerk...Green Arrow from the comics would kick Smallville GA right in the nuts for being such a *****e.

They don't use compound bows for many reasons, one of which is the targets are like 50 ft away, you don't need a compound for that. If it was truly about the bow, they'd use long bows instead of recurve.

If you don't think compunds are more accurate, then you haven't used the three I've mentioned very often.

....i did say compounds were more accurate

I was just happy he stays cool with the acting and the costume. The bow isn't as important as long as he hits his target:oldrazz:

Green Arrow was a Batman clone. He had the Arrowcar, plane, cave, signal, ect. He used the trick arrows, what ever the story called for he would pull out of his quiver. He was a happy hero and he lived the good life with his sidekick. Then he was changed. First Neal Adams gave him a slight make over, then Denny O'Neil rewired his brain. Soon, after his sidekick was hooked on smack and he had a real man love/hate thing going on with Hal Jordan. Years later, everything about him changed. If any of you want to read just an outstanding Green Arrow story pick up The Longbow Hunters by Mike Grell. If you enjoy that try to pick up the run he wrote in the old series in the late 80's early 90's. I think he did the first 100, not sure with out checking right now.

Oh and he does not have a goatee in the comics, it is a Van Dyke. :p

is it just me or didnt we have this exact same conversation like 2 months ago when the first pics of the costume and compund bow came out?
