Does any of this sound remotely close?

Not quite. Nolan doesn't start a frame of editing until everything is in the can. Just the way he works.

God...somebody please leak the damn script already!!! This site is getting tedious with lifeless threads!

I might die before the script is finished. I want to read the script before I die! Seriously though, I'm not dyin'.

plus Nolan loves keeping secrets...look what he did with Begins

And all the better for it! I think what I loved about seeing Begins for the first time was that there were so many cool little surprises. I wasn't totally spoiled like I had been with a lot of other big blockbusters. I did know the basic plot, but things didn't unfold quite as I was expecting.

Seconded. I think that's what made BB for me - how different from what I imagined it was.

I think I liked BB: The Script more than I liked BB: The Film, actually. :(

Strangely, I'm kind of the opposite - I didn't really care much for the original script. It had some nice moments like the one Norman mentioned, but it was even more heavy-handed with the theme than the finished product was (which is saying something) and Rachel was beyond unlikable.

But that's just me. ;)

What was in the script that wasnt in the movie?

Sorry, my memory kind of sucks but Rachel's lines in the original script were quite different - she was quite a *****, to be honest.

The other thing I remember is from the 'time my enemies shared my dread' bit - except, instead of that Bruce goes on to yet another speech. I know we've all discussed the heavy-handedness in regards to themes but the original script had more exposition than the finished product.

Still, I won't deny it had some really good points that I wish had stayed in.

I remember some of the script from BB, when Rachel mentions Harvey Dent to Finch. When Bruce calls Alfred to pick up but I'm not sure about Bruce calling Alfred bit.

I will say, Rachel was MUCH more likable in the movie than in the script.

But I guess, the thing I really liked the least about BB was the art direction. Y'know, I'm not a "Burton can do no wrong" type of guy, but B89 was really the tops for me in terms of what I'd imagine Batman's...world to look like. And with the script, you can sorta imagine it taking place in a...darker place than what we actually saw in the movie.

I loved the art direction in Batman '89, but that ship has sailed and I'm glad that Nolan went a different direction, did his own thing. Because if he'd tried to emulate Burton, all he'd have been doing would be copying Burton. And that's no way to make a mark. The world depicted in Begins works just as well for me as the one in Batman '89. I'm used to Batman's world changing in the comics, depending on who is doing the art. It's the same in the movies.

I mean, let's be honest - prior to Batman '89, Gotham in the comics did not look that way. It looked like a regular city, more or less.

In the 50's it looked like Schumacher's Gotham. In the 60's it looked like the place Adam West and Burt Ward ran around in. In the 70's it looked... honestly, sorta like Chris Nolan's Gotham.

Yeah, I'm not saying Nolan should've copied Burton, just that, with the BB script, I can sorta have the best of both worlds with the great, plot-driven story that is BB, and the dark moodiness of Burton's Batman.
