Here is an early peek at Project Trico, Team ICO’s third game for the PlayStation family of consoles. These are very early screenshots, and some elements you see here may not make it to the final product. Stay tuned, we have more to come!

Oh, yeah, this is something I'm definitely keeping my little eyes fixed upon. Anybody else get a Where The Wild Things Are kind of vibe out of the third and fourth screenshots? Just wondering. Either way, hope to see something at E3 about this

Kal, you sneak that in on me right after my post? Gorgeous trailer, as always Team ICO's art style mystifies and entices. I wonder if some of that stuff with the creature is in-game gameplay? Either way, these games really are the magicians of the craft, I have faith that they'll deliver something great

Damn it Kal, you beat me to it *shakes fist,*:oldrazz::D it looks incredible,:up: Team Ico are freaking geniuses, I can't wait for this work of art to hit us like an atom bomb BOOM LOL!!!:D:up:

They say this is actually old footage, so can you imagine what the final product will be?

Looks...amazing, as expected.

Makes me wish my PS3 was backwards compatible so I could finally play Ico and Shadow of the Colossus all the way through. :(

It's gonna be beautiful, I can't wait!!!:D The Griffin like creature that accompanies the boy, which is freaking awesome by the way, seems to be young like the boy himself, like it hasn't matured yet with its small wings and almost puppy like expression, just beautiful concepts!!!:D:up:

^Absolutely.

The boy and the Gryphon sort of remind me of Atreyu and Falcor. :D

I never cared for their stuff and still dont see what the big deal about Ico was. But to each his own. Hopefully I can get more enjoyment out of this if I try it

Ico was pretty innovative for it's time. With the way you used the CPU for puzzles and things like that. I had never seen anything quite like it, though. Plus, it had a really engrossing story.

They've only had two games, but they both have a certain magic to them. It's like watching a Hayao Miyazaki film. It just drips so much magic and imagination it creates it's own little world. Don't know if that makes sense lol, but that's the way I've seen them in the past

^Yeah, their games have a very ethereal, dreamlike quality to them. It's certainly not something that everyone can get into, but I love what I've played of them.

Havok, have you tried Shadow of the Colossus?

Absolutely,:D something I was thinking about and it would be in Team Ico's style of gameplay, would be if as the story went on The Griffin matured and maybe the boy even helped it to learn how to fly and you could ride it and fly while riding it, something along those lines would be awesome!!!:D As far as the boy goes, I think he is Wander from SOTC, let me explain!!! (Spoiler)[BLACKOUT]If you've played SOTC then you know that at the end Wander is transformed back into an infant, I think this boy may be Wander basicly after growing up again, just a little younger than he was in SOTC!!![/BLACKOUT] if I'm right that would be freaking awesome, I just can't wait to know more!!!:D

I'm not 100% sold yet. I dunno if Team ICO are a fluke developer or not, because both ICO and SotC were big risks, but paid off, despite poor control schemes.

TRICO is a good name though, considering its the 3rd ICO.

I guess they just werent my cup of tea but I'll look out for this one and how development moves along

I couldn't stand the gameplay in Ico but it was a beautiful game. SotC tho was absolutely astounding. I'll look forward to seeing more of this.

i hear this footage is from over a year ago. figure that would give a better impression than just saying it was old.

also trico isn't nessersarily the final name. shadow of the collosseus was called nico early on in it's development.

i have a backwards compatible PS3 but i haven't been able to find a damn copy of ico or SOTC to play on it.

Team Ico...overrated. There, someone had to say it. SOTC is boring as sin and the most repetitive game I've ever played and Ico wasn't all that great either. Ico makes games that are equivilant to art house movies that suck, but no one will say they suck because they don't want to sound stupid.

Or, you know, some of us actually do enjoy them. Their games are quiet and a bit cerebral, yes, but I found both of them extremely good. And Trico may just be the game that nudges me over the edge into actually buying a PS3. Yes, I love Team Ico's work that much.

Or, perhaps, most people actually enjoyed their games and would use boring as probably the last word to ever describe either of their games. Too bad that you equate imagination and excellent artistic ability with art house films that suck.

If it's not your cup of tea that's fine, but you're in a slim minority there.

Beat me to it:yay:

New TRICO project details

Last week, PlayStation LifeStyle shocked the world by leaking an early trailer of the third game to take place in the ICO universe, codenamed TRICO. The video shot up the ranks, it was the most viewed video on YouTube the day it launched, and has placed in the top 5 for the most viewed this week. We've done some digging about the game and come up with some new intel. Like the trailer itself, these are all old and could possibly have changed over the course of the development period. Take them with a grain of salt.

-The 'trailer' was never actually meant to be a trailer of any kind. It was an internal tech video, meant to show off what other Sony internal studios were working on. Theatrical aspects, such as the cinematography, aren't necesarily representative of the title, and that's also why it has copyrighted music, instead of an original compositon.

-Internet chatter slates the video as being a year old. While we aren't clear on the exact age of the video, it's much closer to 2 years. It was shown at Sony's Santa Monica studios in November 2007 as part of the annual GameShare event, where Sony's internal studios show off their projects to the other branches of the world. It reached SCEE's offices in the winter of 2007 as well. It was also shown alongside a playable demo of Heavy Rain, and that demo was NOT the taxadermist demo shown last year, but a different one altogether.

-The leaked video is actually a cut version of the video. The original video was much closer to being 5 minutes long.

-The video's release in proximity to E3 are purely coincidental. The trailer is from 2007, so it's no confirmation that the game will appear at E3, although that also doesn't mean that it won't, either.

-One of the possible control schemes of the game supposedly involves using the Sixaxis to control the beast and the joysticks to control the player character, so simultaneous control was possible.

-Character models and animation aren't representative of the final game. Check the differences between the NICO trailer and the final version of Shadow of the Colossus for an accurate comparison.

-The original video projected a 2009 release date, though the game won't likely be out until 2010. This is partly to prevent any conflicts in scheduling with other releases, although the game is also progressing slowly as well. Game director Fumito Ueda is notorious for his perfectionism.
