Who thinks we should have a Terminator Forum? With sub-forums about the previous films, and Terminator Salvation.

It's one of the constant hot topics in the Misc. Film forum, and I'm sure plenty of others can support it. At the very least, I think it deserves a semi-permanent sticky in that forum?

Speak up, Hypesters, show your support!

I agree Terminator has comics, the past films, the tv show and two more sequels coming up.

I totally agree. Bond, Dragon Ball, G.I. Joe, there's no reason Terminator shouldn't warrant its own section.

I think it definitely deserves it. I figure that if we stay the course now, and continuously post in one big overflowing thread, then we are ALL DEAD. WE ARE ALL DEAD!

It's not like the fan base is there, even the Sarah Conner Chronicles thread in the TV section is huge, even when that show is in a decline.

Not to mention the fact that subtopics/forums including the original three Terminators, future Terminator sequels and the Terminator mythology in general would make more than welcome additions to the Hype in my opinion.

Speed Racer and Transformers have a forum.

Speed Racer never had a forum:huh: And it could be argued that Transformers is a superhero movie. Well, 300 had a forum. And even though that was based on a graphic novel, it wasn't a superhero movie. Plus we had a James Bond forum. So why not a Terminator forum?

How about we have one section with multiple sub-forums for movies like Terminator and others.

This isnt a superhero; i dont think t3 had in 2003.

Thanks for the support.

And thanks for bringing up the range of the property guys, I forgot that they still make Terminator comics. Main one I remember is Robocop vs. Terminator by Frank Miller years ago.

I don't think that the Terminator thread deserves a sticky, let alone its own forum. I'll address some of the arguments made for a forum first, most notably "this movie has/had a forum, why can't Terminator?" I think most franchises which get forums fall into the category of superhero or comic book property. Transformers gets a forum because they're robotic superheroes. There are also extensive comic publications for the Transformers franchise. 300 wasn't about superheroes, but it did exist as a comic publication - boom, forum. A lot of you bring up James Bond, but that received a forum as part of a deal between the movie studio and SHH! for the promotion of Casino Royale. Note that there was no forum for the sequel, as there was no such arrangement for Quantum of Solace. Having the QoS thread stickied was an appeasement to the people who were crying out for a forum. I can't say anything about Dragonball, however. I loathe the franchise, and the movie looks 'tarded. If that forum disappears, along with Dragonball all together, I'd say good riddance.

Now I'll discuss the issue of stickying the thread. As some of you have mentioned, it is constantly at the top anyway. Well, if it's always on top, then what's the point? Usually the point of stickying is to shine more light on an announcement or prevent redundant threads from popping up. There is such a minute chance of another Salvation thread popping up, so that's a moot issue. I'm not against stickying the thread, I just don't see what point would be served at this time, since everyone knows a thread exists and it's always on the first page anyway.

Terminator has had many comics, what really seperates it from Transformers other than the fact that it's not superhero releated?

I see what you're saying, Sam, I really do. I think that's where the mods and admins hit a gray area. All I can say is that Terminator exists primarily as a film franchise, with some comic book tie ins. Transformers, in media, always existed as cartoons and comics, from which the films were adapted.

Because if we keep adding "Geek Forums" then we won't have room for legitimate Superhero comics.

Like the Fantastic Four. That franchise has as much a chance of getting a new movie as Superman does, but because we have to make room for crap like Transformers and Dragonball they get rid of a forum that's been around since the beginning.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

Sorry, Franklin, that your favorite forum got nuked, but that doesn't mean Dragonball and Transformers don't deserve forums. Dragonball is based off of multiple superheroes, the main gist of which are Chinese folk heroes. The Transformers are based off of similar figures that exist in a heightened reality. Furthermore, they're both based off of comics. Though Transformers isn't famous because of Marvel Comics, Dragon Ball's manga is as famous as the anime. So feel free to be frustrated, but please think before you bring up the same tired refrain as a reason why the FF forum should be resurrected.

On-topic: I don't think the Terminator franchise should get its own forum. The main characters are heroic figures, but the only superpowered individuals are the Terminators, who- more often than not- are the antagonistic force. You start positing any sole display of humanly impossible heroism as a reason for a forum here, and we might as well open up an Alien forum based off of whatever the hell Alien: Resurrection and its clone Ripley was about.

Transformers are first and foremost a toy. Then the cartoon came out to sell the toy. Then the comic came out just to make some more cash. Just like G.I. Joe.

He-Man and Thundercats are toys. Will they get a forum?

Dragonball Z. I'll admit to an ignorance to this one. But here in the states it was always a popular cartoon. All those kids and adults didn't really talk about a manga. It was always about the cartoon.

Will Gargoyles get a forum?

You see my frustration. And unfortunately the interweb has hardened me too much to the point that I come out "claws blazing" from the get-go. Sorry bout that.

:D

I think the Terminator comics gives us the wiggle room we need to justify creating a Terminator forum. We need one! :cmad:

Franklin, this is a movie website, not a comic site. There are likely to be no more movies in the immediate future featuring the Fantastic Four. You said it yourself. If you have problems with that, take them up with Marvel Studios and Twentieth Century Fox.

Yeah i think we should have a terminator forum as well.

We had that ****** bond one for long enough why cant we have a terminator one.

Sorry, but both the Terminator Salvation and Sarah Connor TV threads are huge and have so much turn over that they are always at the top of thier given forums (and a bear to read through). All I'm saying is that we have enough fans here and ideas for sub-categories to warrant a full fledged Terminator thread. The hype has had a James Bond forum, and it now has a Green Hornet forum, so I don't think it's pushing anything to have a Terminator forum covering Salvation, SCC, and the past and present comics and the previous sequels.

Put me down for my vote.

There's 2 more Terminators movies in the works after TS, it's a no brainer.

Sorry guys, there won't be a Terminator forum. We're covering "Terminator Salvation" on ComingSoon.net. Next up are "Thor" and "Green Lantern."
