The only problem with the Back to the Future II analogy is that they can't use the original footage, and us witness the scenes from a different point of view (Rasamon style). They would have to reenact everything with new actors.

With the T2 scenes, I wonder if they're getting Robert Patrick back for the role?

Ya I admit now I'm really intrigued because this does not seem to be a typical type of story. Very sci-fi like and I have to admit I like it. I just hope they pull it off.

It's one of those things where they have to consistent with using 'old scenes'. They can't reenact scene from the previous movies, and then USE actual old scenes when it's convenient.

Ya it will be a lot of work for sure. But sounds exciting. One thing I really want to see is future war sequences akin to T1 and T2. Not TS style.

Episode VII/Terminator should bring them back.

And a scarred up badass John Connor.
This time they could do it a little different, 1st halve the mission to get to the time machine and the second halve in current time.

TheArnoldFans.com: You start filming the new Terminator movie next month. Can you give us a tease of what to expect? Will your Terminator model be the same?

Schwarzenegger: "The Terminator. You're right. We start filming in the middle or in the end of April and it will be a four or four-and-a-half month long shoot. We will be filming it in New Orleans with some of it in San Francisco and maybe a little of it in LA but most of it will be done in New Orleans. I'm really looking forward to that because as you know, the last time when they did the Terminator, it was when I was Governor and so I couldn't be in that movie but now I'm back again and they are very excited about having me in the film. And David Ellison, who has produced all the big movies lately, has plenty of money to do it well. He's in partnership with Paramount Pictures who are going to release the movie through their distribution. I'm really looking forward to that and it's going to come out on July 4th weekend in 2015. The movie preparation is going well. The script is fantastic so I'm really looking forward to this film."

It defently looks like the reports of Arnold as Sarah Connor's protector was wrong.It seems like they are going to honor the first 2 films as much as possable.It's very shocing knowing hollywood these days for it to be set In past.

basiclly why they are using anrold again is starting to make sense now.It can still be seen as T5 or at very least sequel to first 2 films.And with something changing in past It still seems more connected than nutrek was to original.

Still with recreating scenes from first 2 films and future scenes will they be trying to do too much In 1 film.

Still If they say T2 took place In 1991 that's wrong.It should be 1994 or 1995.T2 took place 10 years later.

It sounds so convoluted. I don't know what to make of it. While it has time travel and alternate timelines to an extent they seem to be pushing what will happen with this universe by recreating and altering the past original two films.

I wonder if new characters mentioned might be ones that change timeline.

i can accept terminator fans liking the idea of having more stories and timelines in the same movie. but i hope noone will be hyped to see the original scenes reenact again in a reboot with new actors. you can not be and you should not be that desperate for a terminator movie.

reading a rumor that he will kill punks and that the iguana is back sounds pathetic.

I notice they specifically ask if his Terminator model will be the same, but even after being prompted about it, Schwarzenegger never actually says in that interview that he is, in fact, playing a Terminator.

It has the potential to be a hit, but to be best film of the year, it's going to have to do a lot to dethrone the monster hit that Avenegrs 2 is more than likely to be, box office wise, at least.

Alan Taylor is, at heart, a semi-journeyman type director. Maybe he's not. We'll see if he can pulled this one off.

The latest plot report makes it clearer why they are bringing Arnold back

My concerns are 1:Are they trying to do too much In 1 film and 2;Can Alan taylor do better job with terminator than Abrams did with Star Trek

However I am getting less worried on 2 even though I am no great fan of Thor 2.The plot description sounds even with changes being made that these are true fans of terminator films or at very least they do their homework.

I dunno. I think Episode VII is going to be something bigger. SW was always the bigger franchise so it's revitalization may draw more to it. But I hope both do well.

That Is if Episode VII actully comes out In 2015.We are In march 2014 and only 1 actor set for film.I am ignoring all rumors for it.Call me when they start casting actors.It's same with Superman/Batman.Call me when actors are cast.

I wouldn't be shocked at all If Episode VII Is pushed to memorial day 2016 forcing other studios to rearrange schedule.

Meanwhile these plot details allows them to have it both ways.Genesis can be both sequel and "reboot" and has Arnold reprising her trademark role.
