(I know it's wrong but alcohol feels better than death so...I switched one evil for another)

Oh dear God, please get sober. Alcohol isn't just wrong, it's a slow suicide poisoning yourself like that. Trust me, I've talked to way too many people who've lost loved ones because of alcoholism. One customer I chatted with told me of how her I think Grandfather died from alcohol related health issues after he decided to get sober so he could spend time with his family instead of drinking. Please go to a group like AA if you need to, but please stop doing this to yourself. It hurts me to hear things like this because alcohol has trashed my life, not because I drink but because others have. I missed out on alot of things with my dad because he was a violent alcoholic. There's just too much pain from my past that I'm hurting right now. Please please please do everything you can to quit.

Dew is one of those posters who types the way they speak. Its something that, in her case, adds to the effect of the post. Dramatizes it almost.

"Are.... *long pause.....* are You DYIIINNGGG???"

Very effective in evoking feeling in font format.

Now, there are cases where typing the way you speak could prove very, very annoying. For example:

"Maaayn, right thurr over thurr be mai thuuuuugzzz. Hold it down n kizz my nutzz"

"Like, sometimes I like look in the like mirror and like think to myself that I like, like Billy"

"Uhhhhhh... soooo.... uhhhhh... i am... uhhhhhhhhhhhhh... huh?"

So please use your post/speak carefully. You can enhance or detract your own post... the choice is yours.

Brian Michael Bendis? ;)

Since when do you know what you're talking about?!

The man didn't say he was addicted. They just said they were drinking. Hell, I drink, a lot, but I'm far from the lost soul that you portray in your post. Not everything in life is an extreme after an extreme following an extreme. There are in betweens that people fit themselves in that lean toward one extreme or the other... but its up to that individual or the people around them to intervene in their lives.

I understand that you are trying to be helpful... but methinks that all you have done is slightly overdramatize the situation.

There is still an underground...its just not your underground. For the record, the emo, or scene trend was a failure for the most part. While some bands did well for a year or so, most of the successful acts werent even emo (modern day emo of course...Im not getting into the "true emo is dead" argument). Fall Out Boy, Panic!, and a few others...but bands like Senses Fail, Thrice, and many, many other "next big things" bombed once they tried to move beyond just a large cult following. Bands like Coheed, Avenged, MCR and others arent even emo but were the biggest sellers in the emo trend (proving that no one understands musical genres these days).

The result is that the entire scene trend is collapsing under its own overhyped weight. Mainstream kids stole the poppier bands (like Plain White Ts) and the mainstream culture (as always) co-opted just enough of the look...while shunning the now ridiculous girl pants, massive ear holes, facial piercings and crooked hair cuts. With no support from the underground since the trend went mainstream, and little interest from the mainstream, most scene bands will be dropping off the face of the earth in the next few years. My Chemical Romance COULD remain popular, as they were never emo anyway, and have grown to include influences from the 70s (The Black Parade is essentially a 70's arena rock cd with some Smashing Pumpkins thrown in). Very few others will remain relevant (I believe the world is realizing that Avenged Sevenfold is the worst Power Metal band on earth...and my HOPE is the Coheed and Cambria will get the respect they deserve).

So...to make a short story long...there are new potential trends bubbling up...you just havent heard about them...and the press...like those disrespectful jerks at AP Magazine...are too busy wondering why their cover stars didnt get famous to actually kick the corpse andd start promoting a new trend. As usual, the true trend setters on the street will make the next trend viable, only to be stolen once again by the media and the mainstream.

And the cycle goes on and on.

If I had to guess, I'd say you're an acoustic guitarist...And graphics art major? You speak a lot of my friends in real life...

Anyway, yeah I think MCR will still be around, Black Parade is still popular with fans and they're working on a new album..They won't go the way of "Semisonic" or any of those other bands I used to listen to, that just seemed to...fade away.

Now seriously though, just pm me if you ever feel the need.

More and more I like the sound of "everyday heroes". Kind of reminds me that I'm not really alone, even though I lost my friend, and GF can be complicated...

I'm not an alcoholic. And it's better to drink away the pain then to slice or hang away my sorrow...

Besides..Life has good and bad. And the bad sucks and all but I found that when it comes down to it...I -like- being alive. Well. As of now...So there's no reason to be selfish and take myself down this road of angst when I could use my mind and my hands to actually MAKE things better.

Someone told me something amazing. They said that I need to find things to keep me moving forward, and I remembered my old motto "Moving ever forward, standing never still..."

Who have I become? I always viewed myself as a hero, like Spider-Man. I want to do good and so I don't let the bad get me down. But talk of suicide, of giving up? That's not me, it was never me...and I was too cowardly to do it anyway. Maybe it's not cowardice, maybe I was too strong?

But that's why I made this....not because of alcohol or some kind of thing destroying my life, but as a follow up to say "thanks for SAVING my life!"

*"Everything is Alright" plays*

Nice comeback though. And thanks to you, Im now listening to AFI...just the good cd, not that godawful Decemberunderground nonsense.

Ummmm the good "cd" as in one?? lol they have 5 other albums..... they are all good:whatever:

Oh, I get the whole "I like AFI when they were underground" hing. I do like some of those old songs...but overall i just dont find what they did that interesting. There were times they tried to be The Misfits a little too hard...and Horror Punk is one of those genres where either you're The Misfits or youre not (like Rockabilly, where every band not called Stray Cats is just an imitation of them). I dont dislike the early stuff, I just dont think they truly evolved into AFI until Sing The Sorrow.
