What Is The Right Religion?

^^^ I knew this thread wasn't a good idea. Servant, he's speaking for himself. I don't think, "**** freedom of speech." is a good idea, it should be "**** those who abuse freedom of speech.

^^^ yes i thats what i should have said, sorry.

my anger has gotten the better of me.

and please everyone if you have any respect for religion do not make any jokes in this thread, it is of bad taste.

More like you accidentally let your true colors slip out. :o
That's the problem with people who believe that they know what the creator of the universe requires of us.
If you "know" you're right, and you "know" that God has commanded us to do certain things and not to do certain things, then of COURSE you're going to wish for a totalitarian theocracy. :o

and please everyone if you have any respect for religion do not make any jokes in this thread, it is of bad taste.
I have no respect for religion. Religion is one of the worst things to hit the planet. There is no such thing as a "right" religion.

But I've never understood why religious people are so fragile.
They supposedly know the truth, to their own satisfaction, so how does reading some foolishness from someone who's not as "enlightened" as you are hurt in any way.

It's like, if I had a huge monobrow, and someone insulted me by making fun of my monobrow, it might hurt.
But if a total stranger says "Hey, Wilhelm, yer Mom's a **** and smells like Bleu Cheese!"
That can't hurt me in any way, because it isn't based in truth at all. They don't know my Mom, or me.
So I don't get this religious urge to bridle, muzzle, shackle and crush heathens when they say something disrespectful about someone or something they don't even know.

What's so offensive about that exactly?
It's really sliced open a few Achiles Tendons!

Since you dont have a religion you dont know how it feels if someone insults your religion, which i have had since i was born and it is much more than a religion to me it is a way of life.

I can sum up this thread in two words:

[BLACKOUT]Oh, God.[/BLACKOUT]

HAHAHAHAHA

Also in regards to Willhem

It isn't for us to bash other peoples beliefs. Even if they come from a country that that is socially accepted, on the Hype everyone is intitled to their own opinion.

It IS a movie quote you know. :whatever:

Maybe instead of taking absolutely everything personally, you should consider the fact that there is a slight possibility that you completely misunderstood, but then again that would be somewhat close to admitting that you don't know everything for certain... so, I guess you should just continue with your fragile little ways.

Since you dont have a religion you dont know how it feels if someone insults your religion, which i have had since i was born and it is much more than a religion to me it is a way of life.
I was an extremely devout Born Again Christian for most of my life, I attended Christian schools from 5th grade on, I read, with interest, the entire Bible 5 times, including the boring genealogies. And even after the first time I began to disbelieve, I was "convicted" and lived it so hardcore that I moved out of the apartment where my fiance and I lived together and told her we couldn't have sex anymore until we got married and she became a Christian, so I know ALL about having "religion".

Also, I have Super-Mega-Ultra strong beliefs regarding the existence of God, the way we should live, and the purpose of life, that get ridiculed every single day.
Yet unlike you, I LOVE freedom of Speech, and would never, ever in a million years call for someone to be Shut Up. :o

See, even if you don't HEAR it, it's still what they're thinking.
I want to know what people are feeling and thinking, not to live in a fake, fear-oriented world, like religious people do. :o

everyone is intitled to their own opinion.
except...people who think religion is preposterous and despicable.
Yes, I understand. You are one of the "Everyone is entitled to have an opinion as long as it's my opinion." People. Yes.

Maybe it's just me getting older, but every day I wonder more and more about the meaning of life, why things happen as they do, and how we all got here. I've never really believed or didn't-believe in a "supreme being" or "beings", I just thought more about the "here and now". But I have seen the lives of the amazing people who have, such as Ghandi, Mother Theresa and a small group of others. Philosophy is very interesting, but I don't know of many philosophers with the inner peace that these people have had. In fact quite the opposite in most cases.

But anyway, I was hoping some of you could share some of your personal experiences, hopefully offer some direction, or advice. I don't know. If you believe in a God or Gods I'd like to hear from you.

I don't particularly prescribe to 1 religion. I was raised up in the Baptist way of life, Christian, and Methodist Church. But, during my own experiences and study of history and where it all originated, I've become more of a spiritual person believing in GOD/a supreme being/The Infinite/The Universal Conscious/etc. with certain high morals, ethics, and ideals when it comes to a spiritual way of living. I study many different concepts and precepts, go within myself, meditate and talk to God in my own way. It's funny when people consider some spiritual thoughts to be Pagan when in all actuality, the most popular religions got some of their "ideas" and precepts from those so-called "pagan" religions. If some people took the time to research some of the major holidays and where they stemmed from, would they continue to worship/celebrate those holidays or would they just continue to look over and stay in their comfort zone of worship (The Matrix so to speak).
I don't believe there is one right religion. It's funny when people consider some spiritual thoughts to be Pagan when in all actuality, the most popular religions got some of their "ideas" and precepts from those so-called "pagan" religions. But, that all religions are just different roads to the same destination...the realization of yourself, God, the ultimate unfoldment of your mind.

We have different religions, you might have not agreed with the Bible, but i agree with my heart and soul with the Quran, and i belive the Bible is distorded by men and is neither the word of Jesus nor of God and thats why you see so many apostates of christianity.

Servant, regarding your "Islam is pure.. blah blah blah" stuff..

Don't you know that Islam was founded by a polygamist pedophile with nine wives, one of whom was eight years old? Seems like something a christian would ask, but I'm just wondering how you consider that "godly"?

I don't think there's a right one, any religion can be good as long as it's purpose is to help you become a better person (without charging hundreds of dollars...hail xenu, lol). Anyway, if you feel it's right, then go for it. :)

If your confident in your views as a Muslim you shouldn't care what us Allahless heathens think about your views. Not that it matters considering I don't care how people feel when it comes to religion.

I'm going to say this right now: all religions are, in some way or another, full of crap.

And that's coming from a Roman Catholic, born and raised. I'm not going to defend my religion because, frankly, I disagree with some of it anyway.

Case in point: gay marriage. Let me get this straight. We have a God who wants everyone to be happy. He's a God who is all-forgiving. But if two gay men (or gay women, either way) want to get together, they should be condemned to Hell? That's really petty to me. God wants you to be happy, but if being happy means being with someone of your own sex, then you shouldn't be happy or you'll burn in an eternal pit of flame.

Yeah, that sounds REALLY reasonable from a guy who forgives everything.

plus, why would people of faith care what people who don't share it think?
:huh::huh::huh:

The whole homosexuality issue bothers me, too, and I too am Catholic. I think people need to realize that man did write The Bible, and that man have biases and prejudices and anything physically created and inspired by man is bound to have them in it.

Also, A LOT of gay people are Christian. Would a Christian engage in an act they know if sinful? I would think not.

God wants all his followers to be happy. I really don't think God cares who you love, it's that you love. Also, homosexuality in its Greek translation (and thank you VenomFan, for clearing this up), simply condemns the sexual acts practiced in the gay community, but never specifically forbids two people of the same sex to be sexually attracted to each other.

Religions are man-made systems, so they're bound to have fallabilities.
