The 2009 American Music Awards

Adam Lambert's performance could have been better.

I really liked the song, but the preformance seemed over the top. Adam needs to just stand up there and sing, he has an awesome voice. I am sure he is going to be a big star though.

2:40 is when she falls.

All kidding aside, she rebounded rather quickly. Say what you want about her in general, but she's still a trained dancer, and when mistakes like that happen, being able to recover and continue with the routine is a definite skill.

I really do believe Lambert is going to make it big. He has alot of star power. The more I think about it, I think his performance was supposed to be nothing more than a conversation starter. The 'over the top' aspect to last night's performance was quite tame compared his full on 'glamrock' pre-idol performances.

I think Lambert is more flash than substance. Seriously, he gets so much praise for his vocals that I don't think he merits at all. Is he a better singer than, say, David Cook? I doubt he'd get this type of attention if he weren't so flamboyant.

His vocal ability is beyond incredible. (When he isn't 'screaming like a banshee', he is amazing.)

I watched a clip of him singing "As Long as You're Mine" from Wicked a few months back - he's a got a great voice.

Well, I'm listening to him right now. Guess it's a matter of opinion, but I find his vocals amazingly unimpressive.

Listen to anything that he did in theater. (Wicked, etc.) Or any of his stripped down performance from AI when he wasn't screaming.

Okay, I found some. Still not impressed. To me, his vocals aren't any better than your average stage performer's. I'm not saying he's terrible. He just doesn't impress me. If you go on YouTube you'll find lots of people who can sing just even better. But I understand I'm probably in the minority here.

I just watched him in the musical Ten Commandments and he just plain stole the show. The man can sing. No wonder Queen has aproached him to replace Freddy Mercury.

i greatly prefer David Cook's voice if choosing between the two.

the only time he really blew me away this year was his performance of Tracks of My Tears. i thought it was stellar

i'm not saying her can't sing, but i'm not for lack of a better phrase, gaga over his voice

That was actually just a rumour.

Anyone who thinks this bloke is a great singer has, obviously, never heard of Bruce Dickinson, Sebastian Bach, Geoff Tate (Queensryche) and Michael Matijevic (Steelheart). :woot:

the only one i recognized was Bach that you mentioned

You don't know who Bruce Dickinson is? Have you ever heard of a little band called IRON MAIDEN? :woot:

ive heard of iron maiden, dont know any of the artists in it by name

Everyone Jake mentioned are great singers.

I like Lambert. I appreciate his Queen meets Vaudeville meets modern day type gimmick. My only issue with him is that he seems to be all flash. I tend to get bored with him until he starts his gimmick wails and thats about it. He could use some fine tuning to express more emotion.

and the wails are what turn me off to his singing
