Well, he was in Midnight Meat Train briefly [BLACKOUT]as one of Mahogany's victims[/BLACKOUT], which also starred Bradley Cooper.

Didnt see it, cant imagine being expansive role though.

I think a lot of the reason was the release date,, it was to early in the summer.
"The Expendables" another tough guy fun movie did well in august after mid june until august there was little or no action or sci-fi films out,, other than "Inception" really to challenge,,,, letting the "Expendables" make more cash.

and the "A-team" was right after iron man, prince of persia, shrek, robin hood, and karate kid (another 1980's powerhouse) was released the same weekend.
I know a lot of people went to see that instead.

I really like the "Expendables" slightly more than the A-team,
But both films were great action fun.

Maybe it was the release date, who knows, just dont understand how such a fun movie could be so over-looked though, especially when it has quite a large built-in fanbase.

Glad to hear all the positives about this movie. I'm really excited to get the Blu Ray and finally watch it. The only reason I didn't catch this summer was because we were getting ready fir my son to be born. Otherwise, I would have been there (having a kid really cut into the summer activities, but worth definitely worth it).

^I can imagine, enjoy it while you can though as I very much doubt we will be getting a sequel, and thats a damn shame as this could have been a great old school franchise.

I'm getting this and Inception for Christmas. I hope Fox listens to all the positive feedback this is getting (Just look at all the comments over on Amazon) and gives us a sequel. I wouldn't mind if we got one with a smaller budget, so long as the heart of the characters is there, as it was in this movie...

^I dont see how they couldnt make a sequel with a lower budget, non of the cast are huge so non would command huge wages, and they could just ground the action a little bit more, maybe use the van a bit more and make the action more personal. Whether Fox do it or not is another matter, I dont see it happening personally.

Liam Neeson was one of the biggest actors in the movie, so he would probably command more money to return for a sequel if one was ever done.

^But he wouldnt command ridiculous amounts that couldnt be covered by a budget smaller than the first movie, non of the cast would IMO.

With the exception of the Narnia movies, Neeson doesn't usually do sequels to any of his movies (Dark Man) for example, so Fox would have to offer him enough $ to make him even consider returning for a sequel. His performance as Hannibal probably wasn't so good that he couldn't be replaced though.

They should get Terry O'Quinn aka Locke from LOST for Hannibal.

Cooper is becoming a big name aswell. Well, bigger than when he was in the first. I would assume that it would be in the contract that they'd do the sequal if there was one to be made.

I doubt they would have signed Neeson without having assurances he would come back for a sequel, Fox always meant for this to be a franchise, i'm still shocked it wont be, it was the perfect summer blockbuster in my eyes, I just have so much fun watching it.

Well, I thought Cooper would have brought some name recognition to the first movie, so I dont see him becoming any bigger before a sequel comes out, even with Hangover 2 on the horizon.

I wouldn't be interested in a low budget sequel with a new cast...

A big part of what made this movie work was the cast and their chemistry together.

If this is all we're going to get, i'm fine with it.

I can't believe this wouldn't be worthy of a sequel. I haven't watched this yet (getting the DVD next week), but everything I've heard has been pretty positive. With all of the garbage sequels that come out, hard to believe this wouldn't be worth it (although maybe I should wait until I've seen it).

Definately, IF they do a sequel, only count me in if the same cast return, if they re-cast anyone I would probably leave it as it just wouldnt be the same, I'd even love Patrick Wilson to return in some sort of role, I thought he was great in the first.

Finally saw The Expendables.
I liked this better

I'm with you, this movie just worked better. I think The Expendables tried to hard to tell a story, show the tough guys tenderness with Jason Statham's love subplot and Stallone's aging subplot. A-Team was just a great start to finish action ride, which is exactly what I wanted it to be.

Well I just think the Expendables weren't a team except the beginning and then the end. None of the characters had heart

A Team were a team through and through.

Although the finale of the Expendables>>>>>>>>The A Team finale
But overall A Team>>>>>>>>>>>Expendables

None of the characters had heart

That was the sole reason for Rourke's character. He was the reason Barney went back to Vilena.

And I've agreed with most of what has been said about The A-Team being better written.

Well The Expandables had clever dialog but I think Stallone's direction is kinda rusty and the final battle scene isn't as big as it should have been.

I have yet to see A-Team yet though..

a few extra scenes..... and a lot of people saying the F-word....

Really??? I watched the extended cut and there were NO f-bombs in it. There are tons in the special features tho.. esp from Sharlto Copley
