The Acolyte: Episode 3 (Spoiler Thread)

I'm enjoying this show so far. I feel like it's its own story while also being a fit within the Star Wars universe. We're seeing how problematic the Jedi are. Meanwhile the character work is good work.

The story was solid overall, but the dialogue was a bit wooden IMO. Relying on child actors so heavily is always a challenge too.

It seems pretty clear that there's some odd stuff going on with the Jedi and we didn't get the full picture. None of the people on the ground are even remotely burned for one. How they resolve these threads is going to have a huge impact on how this series turns out. The shares of grey there are very interesting.

I did think the Witches singing, panting, and being in ecstasy was very oddly done. Probably would've helped if they weren't singing in English tbh. Overall, I probably enjoyed the first two episodes more.
They are really leaning into the prequels there. Sometimes it works. Most of the time, not so much imo.

I’m really baffled by the amount of hate this is getting from even reviewers I respect. It’s as if they’re ignoring the horrible acting in the entire prequel trilogy and the undoing of existing preconceived ideas shown in the original trilogy. The biggest critiques seem to be Anakin’s immaculate conception not being entirely unique making him the “chosen one” less appealing despite the fact that the sequel trilogy already made this prophecy null and void. And the other seems to be how the Jedi are depicted. People seem to think they represent some sort of objective good in the entire galaxy although by the time we get to The Phantom Menace, their arrogance was already evident. And they’re an organization with multiple facets which likely have different points of view.

This is just as bad as every other Disney show so far. Where did all the budget go? Horrible writing, horrible directing, horrible acting, cheap sets.

They are really testing my patience because Star Wars teaches us to keep hope in the darkest times. But how many times can we be burned before we give up? Is there anything to look forward to anymore?

Can someone give and explain three examples of bad dialogue in the show? I don't get it. What do people mean?

We have unfinished business, attack me with all your strength

The Jedi are bad. The Jedi are good.

What have you done. What have you done. What have you done.

The power of one. The power of two. The Power of many

Ay-yi-yi-yi-yi

I'm sure I could remember others if I had any desire to rewatch it.

The first two I guess I agree. But,

"The power of one. The power of two. The Power of many"

Doesn't sound that different from prayers in the real world. I think it's an adequate liturgical line. But I used to go to parochial school, most people haven't.

There was one line that stood out as bad to me, when Yord said

"I made knight",

But it was an isolated one so it didn't bother me.

I might also be confused. When most people speak they sound very basic, use a lot of ummms, eggs, so, well, I mean, etc, use run on sentences, etc. Should every line of dialogue have flair?
