The Adam Project (Ryan Reynolds & Zoe Saldana)

I'm a sucker for any kind of time travel movie. This looks like it could be pretty good.

When I saw the title of this thread, I momentarily got Shawn Levy confused with Dan Levy and I got excited to see Deadpool and David Rose bumble through time together and ruin history.

Now I’m disappointed that this is not that.

Saw the trailer for this on Netflix last night, looks really good.

I like this movie but I am still disppointed with this picture.
Very annoyed with the child actor, every time he imitates Reynolds and being quippy I roll with my eyes.
The Adam Project could be really cute if it had less deadpool humor and concentrate more on the serious side, the attempts are promising.
I like specially the "beer drink" dialog. So its a 6,5 of 10 for me in the end.

Oh man I enjoyed this a lot, Levy has really grown as a director and while RR is just RR there are some quite emotional and moving moments in this movie.

It’s really heartfelt at times and this added a lot. The cast help with really good performances, and it’s also a pretty good sci fi movie in its own right. Definitely has that Spielberg of the 80’s feel, and that’s no bad thing to someone who grew up in that era.

The finale falls apart a bit, but overall this was really enjoyable in a lot of ways. Bring on Deadpool 3. 7.5/10

I had an absolute blast with this as well and honestly, I think I enjoyed it even more than Free Guy. Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds are a match made in heaven because Reynolds is definitely in top form here.

Sure, its still basically Ryan Reynolds playing Ryan Reynolds with the Deadpool humor thrown in, but I actually felt like he had some solid dramatic material to work with here unlike Red Notice.

He really is able to play off and have great chemistry with pretty much anybody onscreen and both Levy and Reynolds would definitely make an awesome duo for a Deadpool movie.

The action sequences in this were surprisingly a lot of fun IMO.

the only role that didn't do it for me was the henchman. I thought the other roles were well done.

How Ryan Reynolds is Ryan Reynolds in this one?

This is my favorite movie of 2022 so far. It hits all the right notes. Shawn Levy has been killing it lately. And, of course, Ryan Reynolds is at his best. Shout out to Walker Scobell who perfectly portrayed a younger version of Reynolds. Hope to see more of him down the line. Beautiful film.

9.5/10

Netflix movies: we have those cool actors - let’s develop a story
Normal movies: we have this cool story - let’s find the actors

Decided to check this out tonight. I really liked it/borderline loved it. This was a lot of fun and a very heart filled film. I was very surprised to by how much this struck me on a emotional level. Several moments throughout the film got me a little teary eyed.

The idea and world were so interesting. I honestly wish that had been a miniseries so we could've spent a little more time developing the character relationships, as I did feel they were a little rushed. The bad guys in particular could've used a little bit more time. Especially once we got to the last third of the film.

Shawn Levy continues to impress me.

I liked it fine, it did do the emotional scenes quite well and the cast was pretty good, although Saldana was definitely underused. The kid was spot on for a young Reynolds. One thing though is I wish it had been more of a Back to the Future low key-sci fi time travel movie rather than more of an action movie. I found the action scenes boring compared to the moments between Reynolds and his younger self or the two of them with Ruffalo.

This was fine. As others have said, good but nothing worth revisiting. Reynolds was better than he’s been in other movies recently as he’s more toned down and not playing Deadpool in this. The kid was good. Definitely looked like a younger Ryan.

The de-aging effects on Keener were spotty. And you can’t really think about the time travel logic like most of these movies.

If I were to compare this to another Shawn Levy family movie about a kid trying to reconnect with his dad, I’d give the edge to Real Steel.

It had a good amount of heart but I agree about the action being mostly whatever.

the scene between Ryan and Jennifer Garner in the bar might have been the best scene in the entire movie

This was okay. Being that I have a son and also my parents are getting up there in age, this did hit me in the feels with those bits. Being able to go back and see your parents still alive, or to see your son as a grown up...good stuff.

Otherwise, most of the movie was the usual action fluff.

Ok I just finished this and it was pretty good. I thought the performances were solid and the action decent but anyway not a bad way to kill time.
