Now, I know im probably going to regret doing this. But I did a Forum search for "Mac" "PC" etc. And there appears to be no thread discussing this. So here we go...

PC vs. Mac

Macs are awesome.

unless you have some work to do.
or want to play a game.

outside of that. Macz are teh r0xx0rz!!!!

PC. I hate using Macs, they always freeze up.

Very broad poll you have there....

PC... had a G3 that someone gave me...

hate the programs on a Mac.

Macs are good for college work. But man do they lag sometimes.

I prefer using a PC for home use.

But for work they are teh awesome.

Macs. And that's coming from a former Windows NT SysAdmin.

i don't get the big deal about macs. i've never used one, but i simply don't get it. does it do something that a pc can't? or is it just the appeal of having something different just for the sake of having it?

and i hate those damn commercials. they try to market the mac to the 'young hip' crowd, but if you can find a teenager than can afford a mac, then, well... you can't. not many, anyway.

I'm used to PC, and there is nothing to Macs that would make it worth switching for me. Some things are better, but nothing so great that makes it a clear-cut winner.

Most people who hate them have never used one, either. Or haven't for years. People who prefer Macs usually appreciate the usability of them, the beauty of their GUI and functionality, and the fact that they just work. For those of us who prefer them, the overall user experience is more satisfying and productive. I used to be a hardcore Windows geek and I loved playing around in the guts of the computer, tweaking the registries, and the like. But the problem with Windows systems in my experience has been that they are prone to OS problems and corruption. They are prone to viruses, malware, spyware and garbageware. They are prone to being hacked. All of those issues cuts into the actual time I spend just using a Windows machine with time spent just maintaining the damn thing. I set up my Macs and they just run without being subject to all that crap so I can get on with the other things I like to do like writing, music production, graphic design, web design, etc.

It really comes down to what do you personally prefer. Most people grew up with Windows and don't want to deal with learning a new operating system (there really isn't that big of a learning curve, to be honest). Or, they just think Macs are for graphic artists. Or they think Mac people are snotty. But, nine times out of ten, the people I encounter that hate Macs have either never used one or haven't used one for many years. There isn't anything on one platform that you can't do on the other, these days, to be honest.

MACs are a must for anything multimedia related. I edit video on the road for a living and if it wasn't for my iBookPro every doc I've worked on would still be a jumble of unorganized dailies.

For me, I've used other people's Macs and seen a feature and thought it was kind of nifty, but never enough to go out and get one. It's kind of a case of, "This Macbook seems really good, but if it costs $1900 as opposed to an equivalent Dell for 1100, I'll deal with the worse interface and occasional glitchiness."

Macs, because even though they are incompatiable with practically every system and software on earth...they can still hack into an alien computer system with no trouble at all.

Sorry. Totally incorrect. It's quite the opposite these days.

PC. For being able to do everything, Macs can't do anything!
