The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Nitpick Thread

You see, the dinner table scene, it seems Pete is getting snappy because of the spidey hate... and HE'S SPIDEY. He's always questioned if he should even bother doing what he does, as the public hate him. He seems to be showing frustration at Stacey... which is understandable.

If it where you, wouldn't you get frustrated?

I always thought Peter was the type to shake his head and have damned if you do damned if you don't type of attitude. I don't remember seeing him snapping on people when things were frustrating which was always.

Fair point. But he's wanted to give spidey up, almost has. This version showing him release some frustration, to me, seems natural. I couldn't imagine having to deal with superpowers, helping people, and getting hate for it, and then sitting next to the captain of the police show a bit of hate... and at a young age too?

It's not like the scene showed pete being cocky and mouthy. The earlier trailer showed him being a little humble in the household. The convo seems to have shifted in this trailer to be about spidey.

In the early Lee/Ditko/Romita days, Pete in the high school and early college years was always portrayed as a hot head who would fly off the handle at any given moment.
So if anything, him making that slightly snarky remark to Capt. Stacy at the dinner table is more than in character.

but you really gotta look back and think is he really being snappy or is he just voicing his appinion on spiderman

i mean they cut the dialogue from different scenes in the trailer so peters response could be more enthusiastic rather then snappy/angry

if you watch that part from the trailer and try and see it in a lighter tone as if capt stacey asked parker what he thinks of spiderman then it doesnt seem like he being angry or snappy so i think the trailer MaY taken it out of context

Very true. The trailer really isn't a good indicator to get the context of the scene.

But either way, I don't think he's being a dick :woot:

My one nitpick is Robert Downey Jr. wasn't in the trailer giving Spidey a beatdown at Yankee Stadium. Just kidding! Although it would be great if they ever made a Civil War movie. :woot:

Complaints?

Minor stuff mostly, the Lizard as was noted by many, looks pretty bad I think. Passable, but they could have done a LOT better.

I really liked Garfield as Spidey, and I'm starting to like the suit more and more, but it still doesn't hold a candle to the more traditional Raimi suit.

The one thing that really seemed jarring to me was Dennis Leary as Captain Stacy. I mean, he just seemed way too angry and gun-ho compared to the Captain Stacy I know from the comics. I'm perfectly fine with changing characters from their original versions so long as it benefits the story, but this was just a bit unexpected. Anyone else have a similar reaction?

My one small nitpick is the light up action coming from Spidey's webshooters

I honestly didn't think they could screw with the look anymore, then I saw red lights when he would shoot webs. Sorry, but that is straight up stupid. I mean seriously, why even do that? They must have just added it too. I haven't seen this in the game or in the teaser.
Did they think it would make a great toy?

I thought this the moment I saw it.

Just needs the sound effect.

They are web shooters. Unless they are going to take up more than .72% of film time, I don't care if they light up. In fact it makes sense to me- turns them on and off to avoid webbing in fight or wall crawling situations, and they light up.

That's awesome since Buzz Lightyear is the ****.

I don't mind it having indicator so he knows if they are on or if they have enough fluid. But lighting up during every shot, seems kinda unnecessary. Also, just imagining him in the shadows, shooting a web, gets kinda ruined when a red flash gets off in the dark.

I thought that was cool. I also thought the four blue bars indicating how much fluid he has left was cool too.

Yes, the fluid bar is a handy thing to have. The light that goes off when he emits the web fluid doesn't bother me as it does some. When you're swinging around New York's skyline at speed, a visual confirmation that the thing has actually gone off isn't going to hurt.

He either has a web to grab or he doesn't. Don't see how a flashy indicator would come in handy.

So he could change it before he actually runs out? That would be handy when he's in air and then finds out he's empty.

Only way I would think the flashy red thingy would actually do something other than be a cool kiddie marketing ploy for toys would be that it would flash red when he is getting near being out. He can't look at the bars when he is fighting or swinging around. If it's red everytime he shoots then yeah...pointless. The bad guys would see where you were at.

That's what the bars are for. The red flash is nothing more than a confirmation for a shot going off. Which just seems not needed.

I can imagine him being preoccupied or distracted in the heat of things and still running out at some point.

Ahh, okay. Since you said it's handy as AnneFan mentioned, thought you were talking about the blue bar as well, my bad, haha.

The red flash, I didn't have a problem with it when I was watching it. MAYBE when he needs to be sneaky and quiet, the red flash doesn't happen?

I wonder if that actually happens early in the movie and then he modifies the webshooters, so they show how much webbing is left.
