The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Nitpick Thread

Yeah, but it says a lot when it's the one chosen for the trailer.

No it doesn't. How often do they show their best material in the trailer. They show you just enough to get your interest peaked.

Do you really think you've seen the best the movie has to offer in a 2 minute trailer !?

I just did not like Garfield's voice, and his overall mannerism in the car when he attempted to be funny. The quipping has to be , ala previous incarnations... natural, and said with a level of enthusiasm and energy. Garfield's delivery was suspect. Even though Maguire did not have much to say in the previous series, when he did say something, it came off right. Garfield's wisecracking sounds like a bad actor auditioning for Broadway. Either way, there goes the dream for a fun Spidey.
I totally agree. Maybe this film might have more quipping but the delivery in that trailer was horrible. Although Tobey had very little, I preferred his tone. When he was quipping it sounds like he was really making fun of the bad guys, Garfield almost sounded like he was giving a lecture.

wow...I never thought I'd see me endorsing Tobey's Spider-man over Andrew's. Color me surprised

I somewhat agree. His voice didn't sound right in that one scene...but it was only ONE line from one scene. I don't think it's entirely correct to judge and say "there goes the dream for a fun Spidey" based on one example.

I Despise the suit... I love the idea of Web Shooters, I just dislike the execution with the lights...
Nudist Goomba is a big no-no for me... Almost as bad as Gwen knowing, which I really hope it's not true. I WILL watch it... If it's good I'll praise it... If it sucks, then I'll be moaning about it.

First we wanted a quipping Spidey, we got it. Oh wait, his delivery kinda sucks. Oh crap...

Be aware, that's just the way Andrew's voice sounds...it's nasally so...yeah. Whether that affects his delivery of his lines, I don't know.

Also, I've seen at least 4 or 5 of his films where he was the lead or main support, and they were all good to great. His passion for this role seems to be very high, so I would be very disappointed and surprised if this turned out to be his weakest performance.
...I need to leave these boards, I'm getting so pessimistic.

So far Andrew seems like one of the best young actors out there.

I actually took the time to re-watch bits of Social Network and he was practically flawless there.

As if that's not enough I watched Never Let Me Go. Wouldn't personally recommend the movie in general and it has nothing to do with the quality of the film. Back to Andrew's acting though, his character in that film is as deep and difficult as it gets to pull off, but man.. his performance moved me there. It was phenomenal. No exaggerating. Possibly the most believable Hollywood actor I can name on top of my head.

I really don't see how he can't pull off Peter Parker/Spider-Man if he could pull off that character. Unless he, the director or writers deliberately want to express their own interpretation of the character that is very different from what we hope. Andrew should have no problem with the style of the quipping Spider-Man we all love and want, to be honest.

Cheer up!! Don't let these naysayers get ya down. Also, for future reference...you may want to avoid "the nitpick" thread if you're worried about catching some negative vibes. :woot:

One nitpick I might have is being mask-less. In the last part of the trailer, he had his mask off while fighting the Lizard. I know it's just a trailer, but it's just a thought. I hope he doesn't take his mask off for no reason. That was one thing I didn't like in the Raimi's trilogy. It takes away the secrecy of Spider-Man.

As long as we don't get big groups of people seeing his face, or standing up to the super villain, it'll be fine. That was always cheesy in the Raimi Movies. "You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us!" Really? Goblin should just have Pumpkin Bombed his ass. And then in part 3, Spidey Parade...

Gotta get that face time in.

Is it just me or does the trailer make it seem like his soul motivation is to find out what happened to his parents and not the death of his Uncle Ben?

And how would everyone feel if at the end, after fixing the problem he made with Dr. Connors he decides to retire Spider-man... only to find out that his Uncle Ben was killed in the last five minutes of the movie by some thug?

EDIT:
Just re-watched it. EMMA:"Peter lives with his aunt and UNCLE." then they go on to talk about Spider-man.

Ha, seriously. I never understood that face time reasoning. Most Superheroes have dual identities. The civilian identity and the masked hero. You wanna have face time? Go crazy while outside the costume.

- Spidey's costume. I hated it before, and I still hate it now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the traditional design in the sequel.
- The Lizard being nude and snout-less.

The fact that those are the only things I can ***** about just goes to show how awesome that trailer was. Webshooters for the ****ing win .

I'd like to see a more traditional suit but I also doubt we'll get it.

**** that! I want organics back!

Just kidding. Either way I'm fine.

EDIT:Maybe a big screen "The Other"?

Just kidding again.

It wouldn't take much to make it look like the classic suit though. Get rid of the lines on the legs and put them around his waist. Make the gloves completely red and add some shoe soles that don't look like sneakers. Done. The material and textures I'm absolutely happy with, keep those.

This. Also, make the eyes white or silver.

It's as I've said before. If this costume had used the traditional comic book design, it would have been my favorite costume in any superhero film. The colors, textures, and materials are perfect, but the red leg-stripes, lack of a belt, blue-fingered gloves, silver-soled boots, and yellow eyes just kill it for me.

It's nothing but minor detail changes. It's not like changing the entire Bat suit between Movies.

It's amazing how such small changes can make all the difference between loving and hating a design.

The Spidey parade I didn't like, but the train scene in Spidey 2 was ****ing fantastic.
Idk about you, but if somebody just risked their life to save me, I'd be reacting that way too.

East coast city people ftw :woot:

You know, I'm glad someone brought this up because I've been wondering about it myself lately, we haven't heard or seen anything regarding Uncle Ben getting killed.

If this doesn't happen, then.... I don't even know.
It'd be like Bruce Wayne becoming Batman because he's bored and doesn't know what to do with his money.

I have one MAJOR nitpick. How does he keep all that hair underneath that mask?
