Maybe it's out of instinct?

EDIT: Just saw the comic page that Nathan posted.

The Lizard's plots, when he's smart enough to speak about them, tend to revolve around his hate for humanity and desire to start a new hybrid species. I don't see a problem with the filmmakers staying true to the source material. If anything, what I've heard of this movie Lizard is the most accurate Sony's made a Spider-Man movie villain to their paper counterpart since the Dafoe Green Goblin. The only major change seems to be that he's naked, but I never understood in the first place why a being who hates humans and has none of their social inhibitions would wear their clothes, so it's not a deal breaker for me.

The Lizard turning people into Lizards would be cool if the Lizard didn't look like a bad sci-fi creature from a B movie...
Your avatar makes this quote ironic

I hope he doesn't turn people to lizard men here

Yeah, I don't think that sounds a like plan too far out of left field for this villian. The changes to the origin with Peter's parents being so involved is what gets me. Watching IGN's rewind trailer they were talking about rumors that Uncle Ben may not be killed and that his parents may have done some experiments to assist Peter into becoming Spider-man, sound much, much worse to me. This whole untold origin is what irks me, Spider-man's origin is so iconic, why mess with it.

The whole IGN rewind thing was crap.

They must not know that Uncle Ben getting murdered was filmed or that Peter was bitten by a spider in the teaser. Yep, definitely shows that they're so looking forward to the movie for sure!

I usually don't like IGN for their ignorance, but I just cannot help but to like people that like this reboot :woot:

I don't think we have to worry about Peter's parents having experimented on him. At least...I hope we don't... :csad: Uncle Ben DOES die, though. That's fact.

Yeah, the idea that Peter's dad experimented on him is completely baseless.

I don't know where people are getting that from.

I did say they were rumors, although the main emphasis behind the first two trailers has been the past that's been kept from Peter and it obviously has something to do with his parents. It's the biggest problem with redoing the origin story, they want it to be fresh, so they're changing it. Raimi got the origin right the first time, start the movie out with Garfield already in the suit.

Well, no official confirmation other than those SWAT lizard men toys.

Well, look. The thing on the top right is what's shown in the trailer immediately after Connors injects himself. It's not from the same scene because if you look closely, the closeup of the device is an outside shot. It's the green glowing thing that's attached/near the top of Oscorp tower when Spidey's swinging in to stop the Lizard. At the end of the trailer with maskless Peter, you can see Peter holding something and a now deactivated device (the green glowing thing, lol)... so I'm just gonna assume that that device was going to somehow turn the people of New York into creatures like him.

Now, keep in mind that the police are after Spidey when this happens... so I'm guessing that initially, Spidey fails and the SWAT team get caught in something of the Lizard's on the tower which will turn them into creatures. Makes sense too, considering the scenes in the trailer are from a battle on Oscorp tower and the toy set features SWAT lizards in the Oscorp tower battle kit.

Also, almost all of the scenes where Spidey's swinging at night are basically during the same portion of the movie, they're just spread over the course of the trailer. So, relax. We'll have plenty of daytime Spidey action. :D

I have no doubt there will be Lizard SWAT dudes in this movie. I didn't analyze every still frame in the trailer obviously, but yeah, so it looks like he will use the serum to 'infect' them and have them turned.

And I am not sure who thinks the entire movie will only have Spidey swinging at night but that's just silly. It seems pretty clear to me that Sony is yet again trying to distance themselves from the Raimi films. This trailer shows mostly night scenes to help create a darker overall tone and yeah, it looks as though a bunch of it are only from maybe two or three separate scenes.

I'm not a fan of Peter Parker walking around with a hood on. It's just too obvious and cliched way saying that he's a "tortured outcast". Peter Parker isn't those things, but if he is, could we at least be subtler than a sledgehammer about it?

The Lizard is too massive

I hope he wears the lapcoat even in some scenes.

I agree.

Hmm, I guess having a hood means different things to different people. I just thought he was dressed as loads of others today are dressed...plainly.

Well, I mean, he's wearing the hood in class, looking down as he walks, et cetera. It just doesn't seem like Peter Parker to me.

He's behaving as any other introverted teenager with confidence issues would behave.

Most teenagers don't wear hoods in class. My main concern is that I don't want Peter Parker to be emo, because it's antithetical to his character.

Wearing a hood doesn't translate to emo. Peter is shy, awkward, introverted, quiet, highly intelligent and also very unconfident about himself.

I did. Though that was mostly because of the light getting into my face, when I was trying to sleep.

Lol, he's not emo.

Quite a few people at my school have this weird idea in this head that quiet, reclusive and not too socially active = emo.

:\

Anyways, yeah.

Parker's not emo. Just quiet. Which'll be a fun parallel to see tbh, especially when he's the exact opposite when he's in his red and blue duds.
