The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Video Game Thread - Part 4

My brother has a degree in game art design. After years of sitting up with him while he did homework, I had no choice but to understand what the heck he was doing so it would all make sense lol.

On that note, I do not mean for my aforementioned post to suggest that I am one of those "PC gaming master race" clowns. I also play video games on the Wii, and that is certainly not a graphics power house. But it is always problematic to me when people get so hung up on graphics and elitist mentalities rather than addressing the rest of what makes a game enjoyable.

Woah.

So will you be getting ASM2 on console or PC?

You know? I've been waiting for a Spider-Man game that looks like the movie CGI for a long time now, but you have to be realistic here.
It's a game made for last gen in a short amount of time. Maybe I'll get my wish around Spider-Man 4.
But for now, I am content with this. Beenox really did their best to please the fans.
Not a lot of companies can say that unfortunately.

Agreed, when we get into the thick of the PS4 and Xbox One being the main consoles then we will start to seem some next gen goodness.

I love Beenox's passion as Spider-man fans and it's the reason why I wish they had more time to make their games.

Thank you :D! Spider-man and Batman are my favorite super heroes, so this will be a great game year for me!

Yeah, I loved my Wii. Despite it only having like... 10 memorable games they were like... freaky memorable. I count it as one of the systems with most classics, but the least robust library. Currently digging my Wii U so much so that I've yet to migrate onto PS4 and took my Xbox One back after a month of owning it (thank God Target allows refunds for 30 days).

Thing about graphics is they've sold people on an ideal. That they have to have something beautiful to have something of substance. That budget and time or even artistic design translates into a good product. It's kind of the DmC philosophy that if you crank up eye candy the game itself must inherently be more technically sound. Which, again, looking at DmC we can see that's not the case at all in comparison to its predecessors.

And all of the aforementioned is freaking awesome. But in reality, they've reduced "play" to something people don't always look for. They look for an experience through visually and audibly charged splendor now. Just wish that most of them doing so understood what they were talking about when they go on to talk ****.

What if this game turns out to be pretty awesome? I mean, given that it's probably Beenox's last Spidey game unless Activision keeps the film license rights?

On another note... that lady was just NOT interested in this game whatsoever haha

PC for me, unless I get wind of the game performing poorly on PC. For all of the power of the platform, some games are simplyl poorly coded. Spider-Man Web of Shadows for instance, is a title I would recommend on consoles before I would recommend it on PC. On the PC, the game has major frame rate issues, even with powerful rigs. And while the graphical fidelity is still better on the PC, the playability is spotty.

So, for now, PC is my target platform for this game. But that could change...

It looks ok but I'm not a fan of the same melee move. And Spidey still looks very stiff. All he does is run around and he did a max of two flips. I should be able to run along the walls....and bounce of off them! I keep waiting for them to get his personality in the combat and it seems like they have failed once again. I want DMC(Devil May Cry) combat for Spidey. It's fun to look it,not to difficult to master, and incorporates different elements for some awesome looking battles.

And he used that *Blast* thing when has WEBBING. How pointless.....smh.

I wasnt interested in hearing the guy talk I was getting bored and only looked for footage

Really? You had no interest in what the guy that helped make the game had to say? Even though he was telling us some cool stuff about the game?

Sorry to hear it disappointed you man. :(

sorry i just was not interested in what he had to say
the only thing I was listened to was interaction
everything else sounded like arkham and most of the things we've all read about

Interesting as no one asked for you to say anything about this either. :cwink:

I didn't say you couldn't discuss the game. I said no one here cares if you're a "paid game critic" (whatever that means) nor does that make your opinion of what was shown any more valid.

The game looks pretty much the exact same as its predecessor. Graphics aside (which I already did say have improved), that in and of itself is a bad thing. You don't need a degree in game critiquing to know that....

How I rank Spider-Man games from Activision (home systems only, handheld and Spider-Man 2 for PC I don't rank):
  1. Spider-Man 3 (Treyarch)
  2. Spider-Man 2
  3. Spider-Man & Spider-Man 2 Enter Electro (both PS1 games, tie)
  4. Amazing Spider-Man (PC)
  5. Ultimate Spider-Man (last Spider-Man game on my list I really enjoy playing)
  6. Spider-Man Web of Shadows (cool swinging, best swing kick, and wall fighting is good)
  7. Spider-Man 3 (Vicarious Visions)
  8. Friend or Foe
  9. The rest

Here's mine:
1) Spider-Man 2000 (PS1)
2) Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro
3) Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
4) Spider-Man 3
5) Amazing Spider-Man
6) Spider-Man: The Movie
7) Spider-Man 2
8) Ultimate Spider-Man
9) Spider-Man: Web of Shadows.

I don't think I'll ever live to see the day when the complexity of DMC3 or Bayonetta ever touches a superhero game. But one could wish. :csad:

I thought DMC was pretty easy to play but when you combined the different mechanics it was a blast. Guns were seperate from the combat. They weren't included in the melee punch. It's like they don't understand how to make a proper Spidey game. Shattered Dimensions had some cooler looking combos but I think the better combat systems came from SM2(more fun, more interactive and it made more sense) Triangle was incorporated into combat and it included webs into the combo if it called for it. I'm not expecting much from this game guys. I will be waiting and might not even buy it. I did the same with Spiderman Edge of Time and I didn't regret that decision.

Sorry to hear it disappointed you man. :(

Look I like some things they showed but what frustrates me is the possibility that this game will still have the same issues the first game had. The reason why it frustrates me is I have to wait all the way until SM3 and hope that the 3rd game is better than the second.

I hate that cycle...

You did it 3 times! :woot: You're on fire, kid!

Annnnddd the resident game critic has still yet to respond to my points about why this looks horrid and continues to indulge in acting like a child.

Moving on....

You guys can have fun convincing yourselves that this even looks halfway to mediocre. I'll be in the General Discussion thread.

Yeah, but I still think we need to play it to know truly what it's like. But I understand the concern as I share some of it. I really wanted them to get rid of the dive/gliding thing.
